If you really want to have an idea of just how dark and creepy this place might be. Look up “Abyssal Plain” or “Deep Sea.”
Aside from the deep sea having a number of strange creatures, it’s also a dark place without any sunlight. Life in these depths can usually be found scavenging on the remains of large sea creatures or around volcanic vents. The environment is a very harsh place.
