What to buy next

I'm thinking about buying one of these Expansion packs for my birthday, but I can't decide which one to get. I'm not interested in Life & Death (I find the topic too morbid)

So, my choices are Horse Ranch, Lovestruck or For Rent.

Which one would you say is worth buying?

  • Out of the three, I only own Horse Ranch, but I do plan to get Lovestruck because I've wanted more romance and dating options for a long time.

Horse Ranch, in my opinion, is a great pack. Yeah, it can feel a little bit thin, like it should have had more in it, but if you are getting it on sale, I'd say it's totally worth it. I paid full price and I have no regrets. I use it ALL the time. I have so many households with horses and/or goats and I never get bored of them. But then, I was a horse enthusiast as a child so it speaks to my young heart. But I even enjoy the world a lot more than I thought I would, and I love that a bunch of the CAS clothing has some good, masculine styles for males and some dirty, rugged swatches.

This is one of those packs that genuinely brings me joy. 😊

This is real news and it's true news.

For Rent has nothing to do in the world except for a few rabbit.holes, and Horse Ranch doesn't have real unicorns like sims 3.

The For Rent gameplay is more about being a landlord if you are interested in that. The gameplay is buggy.

I wouldn't buy either one. That's just me.

The unicorns in sims 3 are magical and have special powers. It's beautiful gameplay that they couldn't reproduce in sims 4.

  • Out of those three I don't own Lovestruck, so can't say about it (I would like to get it though). Horse Ranch is one of my favourite EPs, but it's probably partially because I just love horses. I find it very enjoyable. I also own For Rent and while I find it okay, I wouldn't really recommend it, especially not over Horse Ranch. It's good if you need more room in your worlds, but I'm not finding the actual rental gameplay very fun. You mention you play legacy though. I'm thinking Lovestruck might be the best choice to enchance romance 😉

  • I would recommend Lovestruck because it affects gameplay in whatever world you're in. I own all three, but haven't yet played with horses or residential rentals.

I might have tried playing For Rent if I wasn't scared of the bugs, but so far I haven't played on a lot big enough for horses.

Some caveats, for Lovestruck I have a mod installed that doesn't allow relationship decay by time alone. I also have one that allows me to turn off attraction for individual Sims. You also have to take the time to give Sims turn-ons and turn-offs or their attraction will always be neutral.

  • I don't have Lovestruck so I can't speak for that, but I really like both Horse Ranch and For Rent. I am aware of the issues people are having with For Rent, but for me it has (mostly) worked well. A few things:

    • Both worlds are very empty with lots of stage dressing and not a lot of content. I don't know if the Lovestruck world is better of just more of the same, but they feel empty and could have a lot more lots than they do. I do find that Tomarang is far worse than Chestnut Ridge though, and as long as you are interested in the actual ranch play you can make do.
    • For Rent events can break your game and make it unplayable, turning that feature off makes a huge difference.
    • For me personally, for rent allows me to create a more town like environment in places like Newcrest and Del Sol Valley which makes those places feel more authentic. I also like that you can use it in so many ways (town houses, apartments, long term motel rentals, shared houses...)
    • Horses are beautiful and add a ton of game play if you like them.

Lovestruck world is a step up from those two.  There’s still lots of empty space but the starter house most will pick puts you right by a road which gets quite a lot of sims walking by the house.  And you have a few things to do in the world and an outdoor collection etc.

It’s still quite dead though, it’s not Mount Komorebi or Windenburg, but it was noticeably better than the last couple of worlds to me.  Tomarang was so sad when I played there for a bit.  Such a pretty place but no sims.

  • kits kits...and more kits!

    Are they done with packs?

    Gee...I hope not.

  • I only own Horse Ranch out the three listed, so my reply right now is super biased. I do want to get For Rent soon, though.

As for horses, it pairs well with Cottage Living, but I have had a lot of fun with it. I like the process of making horses, and it is nice to have something your Sims can ride on. Also, I like my Sims having pets, so anything with animals is a must have in my game.

  • I own them all, but If I were you, I would wait on getting 4 rent till they have fixed lot corruption.

i love both Horse Ranch, and Lovestruck.
