- I took a guess because I don't know what the conversion to USA dollars would be... it was around $900 Canadian though. Before that I played on the low end, prob around $400 Canadian or $300 USA. It worked fine but every loading screen was (literally, I timed it) around 17 minutes long. (I'd get the odd "Super Quick" one at 5 minutes, but some up to 45 minutes). Needless to say my Sims stayed home once I got into the game loL!
- DaWaterRatNew VanguardI'm guessing as well, since my husband builds our machines, and for the last few iterations has mostly been just upgrading whatever needs upgrading when there's a new game he wants (for him) or Daz Studio needs more graphics firepower (for me). I think I'd be on the higher end of mid range, but I can't be certain.
- HermitgirlNew SpectatorI guess this is the right vote or somewhere between this and mid-range. Not sure due to the age of my machine. I got my "gaming" computer a little less than a year before getting Sims 4 so it's a little outdated for some games now. It's had one upgrade since. I think it's considered high end.. at the time I paid about 2k for it. I know it's no where near a monster. Sims 4 runs great for me though.
- *looks up from a Mac Air* I don't know where that falls. (pricewise, mid-range+, hardware low-range I guess)
- RouenSimsSeasoned TravelerMy device is a MacBook Pro. It's not a fancy gaming computer, but it was plenty expensive! It's been good to me though. I have all expansion and game packs, about half of the stuff packs, and 38GB of custom content, and the lag is not intolerable. Plus I have a lot of CC clutter in some of the houses and complicated hairstyles on some Sims. Plus about 150 played Sims... Hmm, I'm surprised my computer hasn't exploded yet.
- Custom built gaming PC built with PC Part Picker. Even with all the accessories and standing desk, still under $2,000 easily. I built it to play higher end spec games like Overwatch with family. I have a beta with GE Force Now, so able to stream and play games easily. Plays Sims 4 with all packs minus Mosquito pack. Only lagged before the cloud based gaming beta while streaming Raft. So runs about 50 games on it really well.
- SimmervilleSeasoned AceI'm playing on the computer I bought cheap 5 years ago. It was probably next to the very cheapest in the store. Integrated video card and nothing extra. I had no idea I would create videos from my game, but frankly, I don't think the performance is all that bad! I'm used to have 2 browsers (15-20 sites) running in the background while I'm playing. Plus spreadsheets, notepad documents and perhaps even an old version of Photoshop, too. Still, game is performing good. I normally turn all that off when filming though, and can tell there is a difference.
I think the way TS4 deals with hoods and loading is brilliant. I play rotationally so I switch houses a lot, but don't mind those quick loading screens at all. They would probably be quicker on a better computer, but I can live with 10-15 seconds breaks :) - AnmirlaSeasoned AdventurerI bought my PC guts from Newegg and had it put together. I paid the mid-range price, but if I were to go into Best Buy and buy something comparable, it would be closer to the high-end price.
- Well, I just built a new machine with an i9 9900K, an RTX 2080, and 32 GB of RAM, but it didn’t cost me over $3000 US.
So I guess mine is just high end. Not quite a monster lol. - PhantasmKissNew SpectatorA decade ago, my computer was amazing. It's down to mid-range now. It can still do everything I need to do, but it doesn't multitask as well as it used to. Still a firm step above a laptop, though!
