I still have to host an event but I agree that the story really fell off by the end and so did the rewards, I really already have all the rewards I wanted (got the coffin and everything after that is meh), so Im not really too interested in finishing it.
Other than that at least this event actually kinda fit my playstyle and sims (very occulty, dark but also lots of crafty witches who where ready to garden and cook).

I felt the same way, after getting the recipe and all the ingredients to make ambrosia, I assumed one of the tasks would be to revive a ghost or get spared from death or something tying into the ambrosia. I think it was a missed opportunity to wrap the event up and keep it fun. I think it was just a part of the road map and a way to get people playing before Life and Death released.

I've still got 3 to achieve as they've given me 3 more that I cannot unlock til next week. I've found it very useful as It's allowed me to get 10's in the cooking and Gourmet careers and the Ambrosia in my inventory and I've become a painter of masterpieces, selling to the Gallery. Grim has asked me if I'd like to work for him and my Sim has beaten up several people in brawls at his festival including one of his apprentices!
The game is running better than before and I'm enjoying it enormously, not having any trouble with mods as I never play with them. I think I'll plant that cowplant in the garden next.

I have not played My Sims 4 game in awhile, But Because of the Life & Death Pack & the Reward's Event that I finished, I am loving it & having fun again, so I say Thanks for that. :)

Don’t get me wrong free stuff is great and I understand from a business stand point what they where doing but from my perspective as a player I would have liked some sort of end goal as is seamed like all that work for nothing
- AsatoriaSeasoned Adventurer
Do you have anything specific in mind what that end goal could have been?

The start of the event seemed to be about you helping the Grim Reaper out by learning about Ambrosia, and becoming his friend. There was the start of a narrative when it all began. They kind of lost the plot around week 3 or 4. Then, when you make the Ambrosia and visit a bar, it just ends.
It would have been cool if the game introduced a unique ghost halfway through the event. Like the ghost was accidentally killed by the Reaper, and him "forgetting" how to make Ambrosia was just a way for you to make it, so you could feed it to the ghost and revive them. One of the goals would be to learn about the ghost and how they died. Get attached to them, so you have a vested interest in helping them.

Do you end up with the Grim Reaper phoning you and asking if you'd like to work for him? I did.
It did make me do things I'd never done before but I had to concentrate on a single Sim for a long time to achieve them.

As a cheater who doesn't obey to the game rules, I would say it was painful.
I hope Maxis will continue improving these events in the future because Happy At Home and Reaper's events weren't fun yet :
- No story : Like a scenario, it could tell a little story to explain why we are doing these tasks. Who it will help at the end ?
- No fun tasks : Do this, do that ... it reminds me Death Stranding gameplay. The players don't play to a game in order to do chores. No cheat code to skip these tasks.
- Immersion break : Doesn't fit to what the players are doing. For example Sims Sessions 2021 event was easier to include to an existing story.
- No direct link to EP17 Life and Death : It could be an introduction story to the new EP preparing the players to meet the new characters.
Like MMORPG, it could be an special event happening in the SimNation, that would explain why the daily life is temporarily different.

Mine broke halfway through but I thought I was helping grim learn to make ambrosia. And I think the reason was so that players who get life and death might play more with ghosts and death and reviving people if they know that?

I dont know, but to me there is no point in imposing events, tasks or quests. Some simmers dont play those and want nothing to do with that. Furthermore, The point was to get you to buy the death pack ofc and popularize an evil character ! It has fulfilled its goal to bring in more players, and to keep players involved... but it has turned off some simmers, like me and i am waiting for it to be over to start working on my broken game.
I remember the first event i came across w this game, it was so promising ! I thought they would have more fun events like that, i was so very wrong, they never had any. And now i am so very disapointed in how this game turned out and evolved w the modders and developpers codes fighting within the game. I am close to calling it quits. Actually i have called it quits on oct9. Maybe i will come back some day.

To me it was a way to advertise this upcoming pack with some pretty shoddy , poor freebies . I was expecting much more from the event with it dragging out for 6 weeks but once again feeling totally underwhelmed , Could at least have given some useful objects rather than what they did , 99% of which i immediately deleted after claiming it

I will say it wasn't very exciting for me. My main Sim is 5 years old. She has an extensive garden and all the necessary skills were maxed; she could have made ambrosia on day one. She's a vampire with a ton of beneficial traits, so she didn't eat or drink anything she made or that I earned. I immediately sold all the freezer bunnies and tossed the potions. The CAS stuff is kinda cool, though I don't see myself using it much.
I don't see any of that as EA's fault though. I'm the one still playing with the same Sim 5 years later. It was nice to participate in an event even if it was a bit lackluster. I wasn't playing Sims 4 yet when they had the Sugar Skull or Grow Fruit ones. And hey, my Sim is now best friends with the Grim Reaper!
