What would be so fun about Hotels?

Just having the business, really. Like restaurants and retail stores. Nothing especially out of the ordinary, much like life sim, but it is fun to build, tinker, and play with. It is the part of realism that is fun-- being able to design, use, and control something. I remember them being fairly fun in 3. They were also fun to stay in during the original Sims in a way that just showing up to a vacation lot in 4 does not satisfy. They are livelier and had connections to the relating activities.

Granted, I am not exactly upset now because I had a feeling EP10 would not have them. No hopes, no disappointment.

People want to be able to run a hotel or resort, not just stay in one. They miss that aspect that they did get in both TS2 and TS3 (and they especially seem to miss how it was done in TS3's Island Paradise.)

Same with running a retail store. Most want that improved so that it's more like TS2's Open for Business.

Ahh. I hated Sims 3 so I never played it past the base game. I didn't realize this was functionality from a previous sims game. Seems there is a strong divided between Sims 3 players and Sims 2 players in regards to their feelings on Sim's 4.

It's important to remember that what people like about The Sims (in any form) differs from person to person. Some *only* like to build. Others *only* like to make custom content. Still others only like to play. And the way that they play has a myriad of ways.

For example, I didn't like running either a retail store or a resort/hotel. I like to do skill building and have multigenerational families that live happy lives (and I sometimes like to build). But I know that that is *not* what others like in the game and even if they like the ideas I've mentioned, when you look at how they actually *do* play, it's different from the way *I* play.

But that's the joy of The Sims. It *can* be played in many different ways.

But that's also a limitation because the development team can't make everyone happy. For example, some people preferred the way bills were done prior to Eco Lifestyle. Others like it better now. Or they liked it the "cheap" way it was done before the most recent update. But that's where the modders come in. They can make mods so that people can have it the way that they like it even if the majority prefer it a different way (or because the developers *thought* that people would prefer it a different way.)

I loved hotels in TS2. And to be able to run them like we could in TS3, but better would be awesome in TS4. Not sure why they haven’t been added at this point. Even though it angers some people, I’d prefer hotels to be it’s own GP.

I would love hotels if they came back. I loved in the sims 1 when we could see other families going into their rooms and seeing them round the resort, it just made it so real and lively. I’m still very excited about the new pack, but hotels would have been a great addition.

Although, I am a bigger fan of Sims 3, I prefer the hotels from Sims 2. Sims 3 hotels never quite worked the way I expected, but I loved it in Sims 2.

I actually wish they would release a Vegas style world, and include luxury hotels with room service and other cool amenities. That would be awesome in my opinion. Even better if it also includes an arcade for the kiddos.

I don't play the game "straight", it's all about creating humorous and crazy scenarios for me. I would build a hotel of pain, one that guests would never want to stay in again

I remember going to the vacation worlds in TS2, I enjoyed it very much. I never used the resorts in TS3. Never visited or ran any of them. I could hardly play in IP at all, with all the lag and issues there. And never bothered to add any resorts to any other world. I have as much interest in hotels/resorts as I do retail/restaurant. Which is zero.

Wouldn't mind having hotels my sims can visit, though. And for people to run and manage them if they want, just like retail/restaurant. I'd probably plop one down in a world where it makes sense, and send my sims there just to check it out.

I don't watch sims on YouTube or Twitch (maybe James for challenge ideas and rarely a build vid), but if you were streaming, I'd watch. The pics you post are hilarious, and your game looks a lot more interesting than mine :D
