In Sims 4 the most children I had in a single family was 6, but they were spaced out. The first two were teens when the other four happened, and those four were spaced out as well. My youngest child in that family was the same age as his nephew. I was playing on a long life span at that time.
In Sims 3, I had a mod that removed the sim limit per household and ended up having a crazy large family. My sim and her husband had the reward that allows multiples, and they wished for a large family with a genie twice. The first birth resulted in twins, so I thought I can handle this, and wished for a large family for the second wish. Big mistake, my sim ended up giving birth to 8 babies, and the eldest two were just toddlers. My game got a really bad lag from that as well.
