I don't rely on the game giving me 'extra' funds just for moving. I use freerealestate on to get them into the house of choice. IRL most take out a mortgage. But since our Sims aren't charged monthly for said mortgage payment (which would be cool) and only are charged 'rent' for apartments, I do the cheat method. Then I don't have to worry about offspring getting into a house.
