I agree that I think every player can recognize multiple types in themselves (and I can be dominantly one of the other types depending on the game), but I chose Explorer because that seemed to match the "storyteller" player best in spirit.
I'm not necessarily the explore all the new content and play with all the new toys type, but I definitely like figuring out how well I can utilize the game's mechanics and content to tell the kinds of stories I want to tell. I primarily use gaming as a story outlet, which means I favor RPGs that let me customize my characters and give me non-trivial in-game choices, that have open worlds where I can choose my path through the story. etc. And Sims for me is basically a big storytelling sandbox.
I really enjoy when I think of something tricky I want to do in a story and figure out it's possible for me to do in-game, or that I'm at least able to find a mod that will let me.
As a storyteller, Sims 4 has both been a boon and still shown some weaknesses. Sims, in general, are better actors in this edition; they have good expressiveness and doing a little manipulation of the emotion system allows for a good range of animations to convey whatever's desired. Sims don't offer up as much independent input as they used to, which somewhat deprives the random element. I like random input to keep my creativity spurred, so I do miss some of the personality elements.
If I can tell the story I want to tell--I'm happy. If I can't--I get grouchy for new content. I like supernatural stories, so I was happy when ghosts came out until I realized they weren't much fun. The Vampires pack actually got me back in the game. I miss the obstacles Sims used to have, like burglars, more frequent fires, easier to die, etc. In order to introduce actual danger and conflict into a story takes quite a bit of conscious effort, and I'd appreciate actually having to roll with negative events in the game.
From a game design perspective, I really enjoyed the video, and you really can fit just about every player into one of those four general philosophies, even if not an exact match. ('Killers' are awful in tabletop RPG settings )
