I mean, cars would be nice and all but they're simply not high on my priority lists; they're really only here for immersion's sake and wouldn't actually change the gameplay around all that much. What made cars work in the Sims 3 a lot was that it was integrated very well into the open world nature of it: you can actually see your Sims head to work and take time commuting to there and it's an investment to be a time saver compared to waiting for a car pool, whereas here, they'd teleport to it regardless if they walked to walk or if they suddenly started driving.
They could make a world that integrated use of cars similar to Sims 3 but the problem with that is that it'd be extremely self-contained, so therefore wouldn't integrate well with the rest of the worlds and we know they're not going to change around the pre-existing ones to accommodate it.
