You're game is far more exciting in regards to disasters than mine! Even when my sims were low-skilled in cooking I've had very few fires, and was always able to handle them quickly and effectively. I did have one household when LD first came out the dryer started on fire because the maid didn't clean the lint tray. She started on fire and nearly all my sims ran into that tiny room to freak out about the fire. I was so afraid they'd all die, but luckily I was able to maneuver them and put the fire out; even saved the maid's life. In most of the rest of my households the most dramatic thing that happens is someone having an affair.
