    No, it's not insane at all. They are currently on an accelerated track. This makes MORE sense. Later, you can slow them down if you like.

A 7day season doesn't give you much time to play out a good story...if I'm reading this right. 

I play the full 26/28? days. I save and play the same save until I get the storyline down for each sim saving periodically before moving on in gameplay.

Their skills and ambitions update slowly this way as well. Slow burn.

    I normally play a 14-day season, but I started my Sims out with Erik being an infant, and Aaron a toddler. The others were born in-game. I will be switching back to the 14-day seasons once they graduate university. I play on Long, as well, and turned aging off for close to a week before I sent them to Uni.
