Where do orphans go?

Hi all!

Quick question (as I could not find it anywhere). One of my sims became an orphan while I was playing another household. Her parents were older when they had her, and she was still a child when they died. Where did she go? I am currently playing her older sister in another lot, and I don't want her to lose a family member

I once heard that orphaned sims are top of the list in adoption Is this true? Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks in advance!

  • Thanks for all of the replies, folks! Unfortunately I cannot find her in adoption or in the households. I think she is gone forever :frowning:
  • Yeah, this has happened to me more than once. They do not show up in the adoption pool--they're even gone from any family trees, lke they never existed :-/ I play rotationally, so it's a real risk. In the basic game, pets and children just disappear, whether their adults die or their taken away or, in the case of pets, put up for adoption. I really wish this was different. MCCC helps a little, at least then they don't vanish. But I wish we could sometimes put kids and babies up for adoption like we can do pets, and then they show up in the adoption pool. There's so many cool stories to be done with that! Sadly, I don't think they can account for a birth parent/adopted parent duel situation, which is a shame.

Anyway, yeah, only advice I have is to use MCCC. Then you can go into manage households and decide what to do with your new orphan.

That's sad. Maybe next time, if your sim has a new kid or something, it will be wise to go to CAS and save the household to your library so at least you will have that version of her saved. :)
  • I'm so glad I use MCCC, EA really need to fix this!

@ParmaViolet87 You could try rolling your save back to before the last parent died then transfer the child to your household?
  • I wish EA would give us the option to play the new family they are in or let us play our kids as orphans. I would like to see life insurance, our ya-elder sims can buy to have enough funds to last until our children age up to ya in case of an untimely demise.

If you have MCCC you can use it to unhide households too.

They dissapear, unless you backed up your saves she's gone into the system for good. Kinda like in real life.
  • I do have MCCC, but "adopt neglected child" is disabled.
And this doesn't look like it's from MCCC anyway:

The kid can be found in manage households:

(Yea, Vlad seems like a bit of an odd adoptive father.. :o )
