where do the magical sages live?

I don't have my game open just now, so I appologize if I'm a little off on these. I'll edit once I've started up Sims 4 for the evening.

You'll need the sage to either be at the lot or at least be in your sim's contact panel. Going to the bar in Glimmerbrook is usually a good way to get Spellcasters to show up, though I've seen all three in walkbys.

Click on the sage (or their portrait), go to MC Command center

Sim Flags -> Population -> Flag as homeless
Sim Flags -> MCCC -> Flag as Immortal
Sim Flags -> Career -> Freeze Career (once you've used MC Cheats -> carreer Cheats ->quit job if they have one)

Thank you for those instructions.

It took me hours to find him in game to find him as a walkbye and then I could not set him as a homeless sim and have no idea why. the only interactions available to me was flag as ancestral, clear all flags and another flag I forget but nothing to do with homeless. The I checked the same settings on another sim on the lot and got the the option to make them homeless using the same MCCC instructions so I am completely clueless as to why it wont work on Morgyn..

The only flag he has got is no allowed pregnancies.

I have also had my witch waiting a lot of sim hours at the magic realm and he never turns up there either so I am still not sure what's going on..

Try going to the world map and evicting his household, then be sure to mark the house as unplayed in household management.

I evicted him and made him unplayable then waited more sim hours in the magic realm to see if he turned up but he never did so i got rid of the sage using the same magic as he used to and the game sent another sage just not him-) thank you for trying to help me but on this occasion I fear there is nothing else I can do..

Possibly not. But try going to Elixirs and Brews (if you haven't replaced it) as a lot of spellcasters will gather there. It's not in the magic realm, just in Glimmerbrook

Once i placed him in household management and ticked him un-played I left him there thinking the game would take him back out as a sage when the need arose. Am I supposed to put him back in the world now? as if so that would mean me placing him in another lot and he is supposed to be hornless..

I might be a bit thick I have never had to do this before lol

Okay, I've never had a sim "stuck" as not being a sage before either, so something may have gotten mixed up that I can't see.

There's a lot in Glimmerbrook - the bar, Elixirs and Brews. It's coded to attract Spellcasters as patrons. If you send a sim there, after a while practically all the spellcasters in the world (up to lot maximum) will visit there. I'm simply suggesting this as a place to see if Morgyn will show so that you can check his flags and hopefully flag him properly, and he's more likely to show up there than the Magic realm.

If he's been given a job by MCCC or the game, you'll also need to use MCCC to make him quit his job, or he won't show up as a sage while he's "at work"

Once he's jobless and homeless, that should reset him to being a sage.

But it does sound like there's some other change that has happened that I don't know enough about MCCC to know how to fix.
