I usually have them propose where ever they are at the moment... Which will sometimes mean in their pyjamas. I remember taking a screenshot of two of my sims tying the knot, and when I looked back, Gabriel (the guy sim) was still in his clothes, while Helen (the female sim) was in her pyjamas, looking at the ring in a sort of amused manner XD.
