Where Is the Best Place to Store All of Those Collected Upgrade parts?

My Sim has gone overboard on collecting upgrade parts. He's a rather frugal Sim and although he can easily afford to have broken sinks, toilets, etc. repaired professionally, he does the work himself. Being frugal, he also scavenges through the pile when he's done. His Obsessed Fans also leave piles of trash in front of his house. Used to be inside the dorm, but my Sim also goes through the pile before throwing it out. Now, he's got way too much in his personal inventory. I took the time to move everything superfluous out of it and have no desire to place them back. Is there a trunk or other such item that will store all of this stuff? I got the ornate one (not from the jungle set) and when I dragged two of the common plumbing parts to it, then opened the trunk, they seemed to have gone nowhere. :open_mouth: At least one of the trunks gave a cautionary warning in the description IE will devour your precious … I could sell them, but some are robot parts, electronic parts and the expensive plumbing parts. If a trunk is the best place, please let me know which one I can safely use. Thank you.

What to do?

Please, and thank you, in advance.

There are a few storage chests in the game, but I really like the cardboard storage boxes they are so cute. You can change the color and get different pictures on them. There is also a mod with more swatches. I usually have a little storage room or basement with some cardboard boxes. Although to be honest I've never stored upgrade items because I am always upgrading and never have enough.

I love the storage boxes that came with Eco Lifestyle. Oddly enough, those and the cardboard dollhouse are probably two of my favorite objects from that pack.

As Akl500P said, the university storage boxes work great, as well as the base game trunks. I'm pretty sure you can find them by sorting by function BB, in the misc storage category.

The pack has some really cute items. I like the dollhouse too it's adorable.
  • @Darstep0301 Forgive me, but your response made me giggle. Thanks for that. Hey, you never know when that one upgrade part might come in handy. Erik does all of his own work. He's a frugal Sim and was raised on the lean side. Dad was a school teacher and Mom, although big in the Art Community was mostly a Homemaker, which allowed her to keep an eye on the five kids and paint. So, even though Erik's Great-Grand Uncle passed away leaving Erik's father as heir to not only the oldest house in all of Del Sol Valley known as The Cantrell House, plus some Simoleons. Okay a lot of Simoleons, the family continues to live the way they always lived. Frugal. Who cares if Erik is a Global Superstar and has been since he was seventeen. Saving for a rainy day never hurts. :) Erik is quick to donate money when asked. And he's also used his celebrity to raise funds for charity. The trophy awarded is just a knick-knack. The reward is in helping. Now, if he could donate said upgrade parts that might be a good cause …
  • @GalacticGal Did you figure out how to store them? I think if he doesn't use them he should pass the chest of upgrade parts down to his heirs along with his house and fortune. Who wouldn't want to inherit their great-grandfather's tool box with gadgets and upgrade parts?

  • For storing things, and avoiding your Sims going to that storage thing like fridge, chest, toybox, etc...
You can fence it off. That allows you to put things in it, but Sims can't get at it. Also you can take from it any time manually by choosing "Open".

I often put fridges around a large house but keep them fenced off so I can take food out (or put in food or drink like next to the bar), but the Sims can ONLY go to the kitchen fridge autonomously. ;)

  • All this talk of conveniently storing and accessing stuff in "Sims4", I had to make a silly video. :p

Yes I did. He's now got three separate chests from Uni (the ice chest keeper thingie), and they are now labeled so if he needs a specific part he can have his 'assistant' run and get. LOL I like the notion of handing it down. Cool idea. We'll see what happens. I did have him donate the many microphones he had to his fans for star points. He's not a packrat, per se. I was stunned, really, to find out just what he's been toting around all of this time. Now, I have to wonder if just unloading some of that stuff is why the accolades suddenly worked again? Is a puzzlement.
