Where to place my landfill

I downloaded a number of junkyards for a quick challenge that has my sims clean up all the junk, earn money from fabrication and eventually establish a container home neighborhood. So far, so well, now I need to decide where to place all those lots. The idea is that my characters are robots (as always, lol) that woke up at a giant, depressing landfill. No Sims 4 world really offers the backdrop, but some come close enough.

Foundry Cove (Willow Creek starter neighborhood) - Offers 5 lots and reasonably desolate backdrop. The community garden with the spawning vendor spoils the atmosphere a little.

Port Promise (Evergreen Harbour port neighborhood) - Wonderfully rundown, offers five lots, but is just across the canal from the still in use port facilities. I can see this area being abandoned, but it being used as a scrapyard would be a stretch?

Mirage Park (Del Sol Valley starter neighborhood) - This is where the Cahill junkyard is in my main save. The backdrop would perfectly fit the save's endgoal, the newly emerged container community, but look odd in the landfill stage. Also only three lots.

Moonwood Mill
- Four or five lots and the visuals would fit the theme well, although I'd prefer an urban setting. My sims would also have to deal with werewolf neighbors, they'd never fully own the place. (Would the game spawn new weres if I deleted them all?)

Glimmerbrook - Four lost iirc. An odd choice based on the idea of the landfill in question being illegal deposits that amassed over time, not an officially waste management site. In this scenario my sims would actually end up as smallscale heros for cleaning up the forest, but the city council would definitely want them out afterwards to use the forest for tourism.

Mua Pel'am - Three lots. Another out of the left field choice, but canonically the island is heavily polluted. Maybe there was industry here in colonial times and after gaining independence the Sulani sims just used the site as garbage disposal. My sims could seamlessly transisition into conservationist gameplay, there's little not to like about this choice except that it's not my urban nightmare dream.

Out of these choices, which would you pick? Feel free to suggest "other" if you have a better idea, even though it's not included in the poll.

  • For Mua Pelam you could say that the containers were lost from a passing cargo ship and washed up on shore. They were conveniently filled with electronics and appliances and various assorted junk that now needs to be cleaned up and recycled. Rain is an added challenge for your sims.
  • What about the low-elevation neighborhood in Strangerville? If I were doing that, I'd put the primary landfill on the large lot with the plane wreck, and leave the wreck there during the cleanup phase. I would also probably leave the trailer park lot as it is.

I just think the junky, rundown phase would look right against the desert backdrop, but so would the cleaned-up, modern, container building phase.
  • @Amapola76 I decided against including Strangerville because I stubbornly wanted my sims to be near a metropolitan area, whereas Strangerville is in the middle of nowhere and not really matching any of the other worlds. But maybe I can make over Del Sol Valley to function as the closest city. Strangerville would certainly give my sims (I plan to start with four and then recruit allys) plenty of backstory, with the military base, the science lab and the ranches all using their own model of robot/android. I'll have to think about this some more.

@Lenny_Ogg I love the glowing toxic waste in your second screenshot! Will definitely have to include this now in one of the lots.
  • Looks like Port Promise is winning by a landslide. I'm going to place the lots and create my challenge household there, but will definitely keep the Strangerville spin in mind for future use (with the premade sims most likely).
  • Thank you everyone for voting! Here's what became of the concept:

The water reservoir with the toxic waste will become a public swimming pool.

    Sophie

A household android that got replaced by a newer model. Sophie never got over the betrayal and now wants to kill her successor.
Said successor is one of my favorite sims. Sophie might meet him, but I won't let her kill Daniel.

    Carter

The seventh in a line of detective android prototypes. I'm looking forward to him running into his identically looking sucessors randomly (or not so randomly), because he is so different from both of them: Carter "7" is down to earth and casually uses explicit language, Connor "8" is very proper and Amadeus "9" is a squemish, snobbish, lazy hedonist.

    Dave

As a frogman Dave undertook regular dives in the port to check for safety hazards, search lost objects or evidence disposed by criminals. One day he saw something that wasn't to surface again and subsequently got sabotaged, but survived.

    Judith

Modeled after the famous actress Judith Ward in her prime, this android got discarded by her owners when Judith wasn't "in" anymore. She starts out with stereotypical celebrity traits and her arc revolves around developing a personality of her own.
