Where's the Funny?

I'm a funny farmer myself, but having trouble digging much up lately. I know there are some Simmers out there with GREAT senses of humor, but I can't find them anymore.

Maybe I lost my sense of humor.

When it comes to the game itself, I most enjoy the sort of humor which surprises me, rather than the sort I create myself. Sims can do the most ridiculous, side-splittingly funny things when left to their own devices long enough.

However, a good bit of it is very situational, and wouldn't be nearly as hysterically funny if I described it in a post compared to watching it on screen. A furious witch stomping around in her basement spellcasting room in an Angry mood, after heading down for some potion making only to discover her teenaged son had left the cauldron full of macaroni and cheese, is a lot more entertaining to watch than to read about.

Right @SteveBridger, I get that. But there are people who can describe it in a humorous way. Some even make not so funny moments hilarious. I'm just wondering where they are. So much seems to be focused on drama.

Thanks for the shout out, @mightysprite. I try to put a lot of humour in my Sim 66 story, interspersed with the drama. Sometimes I create a Sim and think "there's no way this is going to be anything other than a comedy character".

I can't speak much for other writers/gamers but some do come across as more introverted and are drawn to writing tragic or emosh stories. I'm kind of the opposite; more extroverted irl and drawn to comedy-drama. I love farce and misunderstandings...The Sims provides a lot of gameplay for that, I find.

Hmm I don't think my stories are exactly comedy, but they're kind of lighter than many other stories that I've read. I think for me it's the same as mentioned above that the comedy comes from the little moments in the game and they're sometimes hard to capture. I'll keep the comedy aspect in mind for my future stories, it's definitely something that I'd like to show more.

I used to follow the NPC fashion police thread, I think it is still active.

I made quite a few stories in the past, mostly as videos/machinima, but also on my blogs. Not focusing on tragic but mostly not directly funny either. More soap drama, I guess. I stopped as it was too hard building an audience. A few gave good feedback encouraging me to go on - bless them! - but in the end the views would never justify the amount of time going into those projects. I guess a forum thread would be different though.

If you are willing to confuse funny with silly, you might like my recent series The Bagged Talent show, basically being a parody on RL shows like The Masked Singer, but also with quite a few silly moments as the bagged premade sim participating wear a paper bag while performing their talents, to hide their identity. Sort of simlish silliness, but perhaps not the biggest laugh the world ever saw, LOL.
