I concur with this.
And now, I will checkout the preteen mod! I had no idea there was one... Looks like I've been missing out on gameplay.

I can't speak for others but my young adult sims are all family oriented. There is very little dating and partying in my game. My young adults are career oriented and responsible, enthusiastic parents.
I love the newborn, infant, toddler, child, and teen stages but choosing one of them would have implied I don't care as much for the others.
Seems like choosing young adult has the same implication. ?
