I have a tiny bit of regret for buying Seasons, but not very much regret. I love all the packs.
Out of curiosity, what about Seasons makes you regret buying it? I only have GTW and IL now. Wanting more packs but looking for reasons why/why not a pack is worth it before buying more.
Well, my reasons may not apply to you or apparently to anyone else, but I'll give you my personal rant since you asked for it. ;)
In real life, I live in a place where it never snows or gets really hot, so the extreme temperatures feel weird to start with.
I hate that Sims can't enjoy the various weathers: They don't simply accept the rain, they use an umbrella to hide from it. They freak out in blizzards or thunderstorms. They can literally die in extreme temperatures. In real life, it rains a good amount, so I walk in the rain all the time and don't even consider an umbrella. In the game, even a dehydrated mermaid has to hold an umbrella to protect herself from getting wet.
I like to have my Sims wear pretty much the same thing all the time. Seasons adds two more categories where I have to manually create the same outfit again, and without CC or deactivating weather effects on Sims, wearing the same outfit all the time can kill them.
The holidays in my game are buggy. Sometimes two Sims do the exact same holiday activities, and one will have had a fabulous holiday, while the other one was miserable. It's not based on personal traits as far as I can tell, because all of the boxes are checked for both Sims.
The holiday activities are very secular and materialistic for the most part (like watching television or buying stuff), and the random holidays don't coincide with my value system. For example, there are holidays based on gambling (the lottery), fighting, and pranking, but none based on kindness or hugging or even singing or reading. I was excited about creating holidays that coincide with my spiritual beliefs, but it didn't really work the way I thought it would. And you can't have one household celebrate a certain holiday while another celebrates a different one. It's all or nothing.
There are too few EA hot weather or cold weather outfits, so without CC you would see Sims wearing the same outfits all the time.
Holidays cycle too quickly for my personal tastes. The cycle feels rushed even on the longest setting. They feel less special to me because they happen all the time.
On the plus side, I really enjoy the interactions with the gnomes during the fall holiday... I think it's called Harvestfest, but I changed the names of most of my holidays, so I'm not 100% sure. My main Sim family appreciates the riches bestowed on them by their Gnomish benefactors, lol.
I think it's cute when my Sims sing holiday songs together, although it's weird that they sound like real ones, because singing "Happy Birthday" or something in Simlish doesn't work very well with a solemn spiritual holiday.
Having Seasons gives Sims the ability to talk about the weather, and it's always nice to have another conversational topic.
So, there's my rant. I hope you're not sorry you asked!
You are lucky to live in a place that has no extreme weather, here we get anywhere from -35 to +35. Heck we have seen it rain/snow/sun/hail all within the same hour. I also have never seen anyone ever enjoy the rain or play in it (unless they are a bit out of it on adult things) so that never really bothers me.
