The Sims 2 had mostly game play items and wall decorations. no real clutter so to speak, and people wanted to clutter so bad that all the moding sites started showing up to add it. Toilet paper holders, upper cabinets, things on the kitchen counter that are always there. It adds some realize to the house. I hated Sims 3 and did not play it and didn't start with sims 4 until a few years ago for fear it was like Sims 3, but I was happy to see so much of the clutter content come with the base game, especially since there seems to be a lot less user created content than in Sims 2.
