Who else wants curfews back?

Not sure if this is thread-worthy but I'm interested to hear your opinions. For those of you who don't know curfews were a thing for teen sims on pc. Teen sims had to get home by a certain time, I believe it was 11 pm. If teens stayed out past curfew the police would pick them up, take them home and notify the parents that their kid was out past curfew. With this there was an interaction for a parent yell at or talk to their teen about missing the city's curfew. If you were careful enough the police would not know you were out late and your teens could sneak past curfew. At least that's what I know from my experience. This added a really fun aspect to the game and I would not be upset if it made a comeback.

  • Not sure if I answered already but I don't want curfew unless I set it up on that board which I forgot exist. lol There are many times I like for my teens to spend the night at granny's, or bestie's house. I like that freedom. :)
  • I prefer sims 4 curfew over sims 3, it was just unnecessarily annoying when your teen sims want to jog at 5am and get caught by cop.

I'm sort of shocked to hear people saying it's not a thing where they live - we have it in most of the cities and towns in the metro area where I live. Kids who are not in a car, not with an adult or not indoors can and do get arrested, and it's been that way since I was a teen (which was long before The Sims.) Not that I agree with it, especially since it tends to be more enforced against people of colour, but I'm just one voter.

In any case, I hated it in S3 - my teen would be out jogging or coming home from a part-time job or studying with a friend, and bam! she'd get hauled back to the house and get a lecture from the parents. I'm glad it's optional in S4 - I never use it.

That would be completely impractical in my city of about 2 million people. The police have better things to do with their already limited time. We do however have volunteers who hang around in places that teenagers might hang out and get in dangerous situations. It's called "mum/dad/buddy-on-the-town".

In Sims I don't think I would have any use for it either. I don't play that strictly according to the time of day, because everything is so buggy anyway. Plus, it's fun to have no restrictions.

Yeah I don’t think they do that here either, and my city’s population is closer to 20,000.

And I don’t use the curfew feature from parenthood at all, so I also don’t want that.
  • Hmm.... regarding curfew and parent-sims not reacting. I think that specific thing is by design. I scouted out a good intro from Simsvip.

    https://simsvip.com/sims-4-parenthood-guide/#Relationships

"The Sims 4 Parenthood introduces new type of relationships to the game. Once a Sim ages up to a Young Adult, new relationships will be formed with their Parents, Grandparent, and siblings. These different relationships can be negative, neutral, or positive.

These relationships are historical and directly tied to childhood relationships, so they will not change positively or negatively in any way. The only difference is that certain interactions are available depending on the type of relationship. For example, positive relationships allow Sims to “Send Gifts” to family members with whom they have a positive relationship.

The following 28 relationship types are now available in the game:
    "

The game will not decide for you if your parent-sim will be relaxed or authoritative. The player will have to chose how the parent till react so that the parent and child form the correct relationship later on. I have mostly seen happy and relaxed among my usual families in my rotational play. If I only play the family shortly then I don't have time to correct too much bad behavior. Aiming to get one family to have authoritative parents when they age up this time round.

Below are all the new relationships that can occur:

Guided Child – A great relationship with a authoritative Parent.

Provided Happy Childhood – A great relationship with a relaxed Parent.

Respected Heir – The best relationship with an authoritative Parent.

Mommy’s/Daddy’s Boy/Girl – The best relationship with a relaxed Parent.

Obedient Child – A neutral relationship with an authoritative Parent.

Parented Passively – A neutral relationship with a relaxed Parent.

Repressed Child – A negative relationship with an authoritative Parent.

Unhappy Child – A negative relationship with a relaxed Parent.

The Best Lil’ Boo – A great relationship with a Grandchild.

Grandkiddy – A neutral relationship with a Grandchild.

Grumpchild – A negative relationship with a Grandchild.

    World’s Best Grandpa/Grandma – A great relationship with a Grandparent.

Plain Ol’ Gramps/Gran – A neutral relationship with a Grandparent.

The Grumps – A negative relationship with a Grandparent.

Grateful Guide – A great relationship and a lot of discipline.

Happy Childhood – A great relationship and little discipline.

Oh Captain, My Captain – The best relationship and a lot of discipline.

Daddy/Mommy Dearest – The best relationship and little discipline.

Commanding Presence – A neutral relationship and a lot of discipline.

Passive Parent – A neutral relationship and little discipline.

Punishing Parent – A negative relationship and a lot of discipline.

Unhelpful Parent – A negative relationship and little discipline.

Thick as Thieves – A great relationship with a rival sibling.

Super Siblings – A great relationship with an ally sibling.

Family Frenemy – A neutral relationship with a rival sibling.

Childhood Buds – A neutral relationship with an ally sibling.

Childhood Tormentor – A negative relationship with a rival sibling.

Childhood Enemies – A negative relationship with an ally sibling

Edit: Added a forgotten word so that the sentence would make sense :D

I do live in a large metro area. It's used as an excuse to pick up kids who might actually be committing a real crime, but as I mentioned, the enforcement is rather biased. As Hoverael put it, when you put security over liberty, you gain neither.
