I like the concept of voting but I am a rotational occult player. I wanted Happy Haunts. For me personally it is better to let Maxis chose. Higher odds of fun themes then.
I personally think from what I've heard of Happy Haunts (I missed the voting since I was away from Sims due to health issues) that it would be better expanded into a GP, but that's just my opinion.
When you look at the results of the last two community SP votes (Laundry Day and now Nifty Knitting) it seems like the majority of the community are basically ordinary players who want ordinary content. And they want things their ordinary Sims can do, like laundry or home crafts. Not everyone wants to play occults in every save -- but even occults could learn knitting and sell their stuff on Plopsy. B)
