I'm guessing that auto-roof was prior to TS4? It does sound like a cool and much-needed feature. Roofing is not all intuitive in TS4, it takes a while to learn. I'm ok with doing traditional 2-panel gable-style roofs on a box-type home, but I'm lost when it comes to anything fancy.
