why are my sims constantly just standing there staring into space randomly?

Have you tried resetting the sim?

It's happened to me from time to time... you can reset your Sims by clicking on them (right click, if I'm not mistaken) and choose to reset. They should be 'normal' after that..

I've noticed this a lot lately since Seasons launched. I think it might be a form of simulation lag. Like when you give your sim more than one action in the queue and it sticks on the end of the first one and your sim just stands there for like 30 sim minutes to an hour.

You can reset sims using cheats in 2 different ways.

Open cheat window by pressing Ctrl,shift, and C on your keyboard.

1. In the cheat window enter the following: resetsim sim's full name, and then press Enter.

2. In the cheat window enter the following: testingcheats true, and then hold shift and right click on your sim. You will see a very different options menu. Find the the reset option. I believe it's labeled as reset object, but this also works on sims. Select it and reset the sim. To turn off the testing cheats just open up the cheat window again and enter testingcheats false and press enter.

Seen this for the first time in my game yesterday, since installing Seasons; I just reset the sim and it cleared it. :)

@marcel21 Sometimes my sims do that and if I hit 'pause' then 'play' (sometimes I need to twice) it 'jolts' them back to action. If it's happening significantly or that doesn't help, you can try a game repair...

Open Origin (not the Sims game) and do a 'repair' of your game to see if that fixes it... (see link below)

It happens pretty often to me. My usage of resetsim has definitely increased recently.

Resetting your sim doesn't work for long, then you have to do it again and again and again and . . . . well you get the idea.
