Why Are My Sims Putting On Random Outfits?

Ever since Seasons, I've noticed Sims from played households have sometimes been wearing random (and usually awful) outfits that I didn't give them when they're acting as NPCs (wandering the neighborhood when I'm working with a different household). In my created/played households, I meticulously plan every outfit for every character. It's annoying to see them wandering around wearing a ridiculous jumble of clothes that I know I didn't create. Is this some kind of bug in the Seasons pack? If so, I hope they fix it soon.

  • @MRSMEADOWBROOK I just got Seasons, and noticed that my premades, too, are wearing bizarre things I never put them in (they all have Hot/Cold clothes I designed). However, prior to that, I've also noticed since just after the patches with Get Famous launched, that Sims who go to the spa are also wearing bizarre accessories when they switch to their towels, like gloves and rings.

This is driving me crazy! I set outfits for all categories, when I load up my game or go out in the world everyone is wearing hideous outfits. So frustrated right now with the sims.
  • My Sims random outfits got even weirder. I don't recall where it came from, but I have a CC set of head wings (like you might see on some supernatural anime characters) which are slotted to the glasses spot, so now a bunch of Sims are running around with silly little wings on their heads for no reason.
  • Use testingcheats on or testingcheats true then click on a sim going into cas mode. Above the symbols for the outfits is a little arrow click that and it will bring up how many outfits your sim has for that category. Then all you have to do is delete them. It happens to me all the time and I find that’s the only solution.

For me it happens even when the sim has only one outfit for every category.

After paying a bunch of money for extra content I was really offended by this bug/feature. I think it started after I got Seasons. One of my favourite things about the Sims is (or was) making carefully customized characters with outfits that match their personalities and background, to then play them rotationally, creating an immersive and personalized town experience. Now they walk around town in ridiculous outfits, or I check in on a household in manage worlds to find a sim wearing something awful I would've never chosen for them. I'm so disappointed.
  • Neither this issue nor any of the many other clothing bugs got fixed in that big patch this month so bump -.-
  • So, they told us we can't place items on that apartment balcony because it wasn't working correctly and they couldn't fix it. I'd say it's high time to do that to the situational outfits. They can't seem to fix it, they don't or won't give us control over these outfits, and it's ridiculous. Time to just nuke it entirely. I'm fed up, especially since they don't even communicate with us about this problem.

I would welcome this. It's not like "situational outfits" were even needed in the game to begin with. There are plenty of "situational" outfits that already exist in a Sim's wardrobe, such athletic gear for the workout situation, swimsuits for the swimming situation, hot weather clothes for the hot weather situation, and cold weather clothes for the cold weather situation. We didn't really need RNG outfits on top of all that. For the most part, the Get Together and City Living outfits for things like "Bear Night," "Knight Night," and Geek Con can stay, so long as they stop those Sims from continuing to wear those outfits after the event is over. But those HORRENDOUS RNG outfits you see in the Magic Realm or in Forgotten Hollows need to go pronto.

Agreed, if they don't want to go back and fix them, then we should get an option to disable them. The team have added some outfits that makes no sense, like the fake vampire outfits and the celebrity outfits, why did they feel the need for our sims to wear that at all? Both of them look absolutely awful because the game just generates random clothing for them.
