I hope this is something that will change. I don't want a house that is always clean. If I have a maid, I want her to actually have something to clean.
It certainly didn't make my game more difficult so my guess is because they were either being lazy with the animations or they just ran out of time and since nobody (or not a lot of people) complained about it, there is no rush to get have this back.
