I've explored "allow access" and again, no where to open the locked gate and/or doors to let in invited guests. I will look for that mod. And that was going to be my next question. ;)
Does it work well with MCCC, Road To Fame and Slice of life, by chance?

I've had a Butler in this family in the past and have never once seen that interaction. Are you suggesting it's on the Butler themselves? It's not on the locked door or gate, that much is certain.
Yes, if you click on the butler to socialize and go around the pie menu, there is an option for Butler. Under of the choices under the next headers is to make the butler "invite guests in". I've never seen them actually go to the door and open it for guests, but I do know the guests have access to your front door without your Sim having to greet them.
Cool, now the question is, do Butlers still cause the game to lurch into fast forward mode randomly? Can't have that, after all.
