Why Can't We Unlock for Guests?

The family of my Global Superstar is throwing a birthday party for their eldest. Due to their second son's fame, however, it has become not only desirable, but necessary to keep the gates and all entrances to the house, including the greenhouse, locked. This is problematic when the kids wish to bring home other friends from school, or when they hold events.

What would it take to add unlock for invited guests/friends?

As it is I have to manually unlock the front gate, front door and the patio door where the party is to take place. Then I have to make sure his Stan doesn't sneak in, because that Sim is very hard to convince to leave again. :open_mouth: We won't talk about his pair of Obsessed Fans, since I have a mod that produces them. Paparazzi hang around out front, which is fine. I just don't want them inside the gates.

Please, EA, and thank you, in advance.

If you also like this idea, please post. Perhaps, if enough of us wants this, EA will surprise us on day on a patch. :) I can be hopeful, can't I?

  • I used to have this issue in one save, but in my current one I don't.

My Sim isn't a celeb but having random ppl drop by is annoying to me anyways, so I always lock my doors. In my current save, invited guests have no problem entering. THey wait a good minute on the door step but then they just walk in. I'm not sure what the difference between saves are. Both have no mods.

If that doesn’t work little miss Sam’s has a mod that works well for this issue, if you’re open to use mods.

I've explored "allow access" and again, no where to open the locked gate and/or doors to let in invited guests. I will look for that mod. And that was going to be my next question. ;)

Does it work well with MCCC, Road To Fame and Slice of life, by chance?

Yea it should work fine! I have all those mods in my game as well. Happy simming!

    Thank you!
  • I would love more customization when it comes to doors, especially since I don’t use mods.

My Sims have high reputations and their fame levels fluctuate sometimes, so occasionally one of the random sims they’ve spoken to will show up and say something like, “we’re still friends, right?” And successfully enter the house, despite it being locked. Drives me up the wall! LOL

I have never had a Sim, friend or family, able to get in. Most particularly, through the locked outer gate. In a now deleted save, my Cantrell kids (the first four) went off to uni together. Their Mom had passed away, so their Dad frequently made random visits to the Britechester-U campus. At one point, he invited them to come for a visit (since once a Sim leaves home to live on campus, they have essentially moved out). I went ahead and had the kids accept the invitation. They arrived to stand on the road outside of their father's mansion. Dad wasn't there, surprisingly, and they had no way to get in. Gate was locked.

My gripe is, I have to remember each time my Sims throw some kind of event, to unlock the gate and any doors necessary to allow the hired help, plus the guests to gain access. Then, if i forget to lock things up again, my Sim has to worry about the Paparazzi and/or Obsessed Fans, let alone his Stan, lurking about the premises. It's a royal pain in the fundament. (Yes, that's the 18th century term for bottom, as in what you sit upon.) They have had friends stand outside of the locked front door, too. My Sims have even tried to 'call over' and they just stand there. Oof.
  • I've wanted something like this since Sims2. Would have been very helpful with home based businesses.

There are more customizable lock options than there were in sims 2, but not that option. I'm not sure if "invited guest" is a category that is as easy to make the game recognize as household or staff is. But it would be nice if they could make it happen.

The game can recognize invited guest on the calendar. It would be nice, if there's a way, to even be able to click on the desired Sim to allow them in. Unlocking the outside gate can be treacherous.

My sim couple had to wrangle three teenagers (don’t envy them) two of which had long term partners from school. Their middle child was the popular girl and had her two friends and her boyfriend come over to hang out often. The amount of times I’d be like, “why aren’t you showing up?” Only to find them standing idly outside in the pouring rain because I locked them out... it’s an embarrassingly high number...

It makes me even more angry because Santa Clause can waltz in like he owns the place when one of the family members gains a new level of fame, but the youngest’s partner who they’ve exchanged promise rings with has been standing outside in a blizzard for a half an hour. ?

That's my point, exactly. These guests are also 'invited'. Don't feel alone, I too, have forgotten to unlock the gate to allow the friends (that I gave permission to come home with my Sims after school), just moments before. Must be going senile … to borrow a line from Admiral James T. Kirk.
