Why does writing a song take SO MUCH LONGER

Writing a song takes 12h, but it resets to 0 if you reload the lot (because of traveling or saving and reloading).

My Sim recently managed to finish a song, but only because I made sure that I avoided any loading screens.

I thought EA said there was a fix for the song, inasmuch as you should now be able to resume a started piece? I use the QuikWrite mod to avoid this problem.
