Why is fame so hard to earn?

My acting career Sim seemed to raise through the ranks easily, but the others have not at all. Even the husband, who goes to all the charity benefits and fan meets. No one seems to be interested in him :cry:

For what it’s worth. in real life, it can take years and years of great effort - and people still don’t make it big. Fame is a cruel world to be in; in my opinion.

Agreed, I just wish it didn't fade quite so fast, cause that's not realistic. I think it should be harder to lose fame once you have it, and that should be a challenge unto itself. Like, if I have a famous sim, it should be HARD for them to fade completely back to obscurity and be left alone.

Also, I think there should be a little boost for being related to a famous sim. It's weird to me that my sim can have fame, but all of his children remain completely in obscurity unless I work on them each individually. I think there should be a little boost to their own fame score, just from being the child or sibling of someone with fame, proportional to whatever that fame score is (so a super famous parent would cause a bigger boost than just a slightly famous one). Since, y'know...that tends to be how it works, lol.

Basically, right now it seems like you can only be famous if you really constantly try to be, which some people are, but there's such a thing as being reluctantly famous as well, and I wish it was possible to play that aspect a bit too. Like, the child of a super famous celebrity, trying and trying to not be noticed, but it's actually difficult because thanks to their parent they start out with a certain amount of notoriety and attention placed on them. That kind of thing.

Basically, in RL, there are far too many people with talent all vying for the same role. So, you can be a very talented person and still not 'make it'. Sad, but true.

at one point, my famous Sim had the option to propose, but as a fame-boosting proposal. I don't quite remember the exact situation, but at that moment I didn't want her to propose yet, but now I'd love to make her have a celebrity proposal. Except now it's back to normal and proposing doesn't have the +Fame boost any more.

How do I get the fame boost to proposing? Do I have to stage something somehow?

Kids get a fame boost every time they age up if they have famous parents.

yeah, just outside their home in the fashion district in san myshuno. do you think they might need to travel or something?

I love the way it is. A lot of other things in the game are very easy to achieve. It also motivates me to let my sims leave the house and go out lol. :D

Some things are extremely nerfed. Blogging and such. Some are very high in fame. A fan meet-and-greet is very high. It's about half a star.

I was wondering, if I choose to leave the spotlight for awhile and return to the spotlight, do I return to the same fame level or do I have to start over?
