My sims were throwing a wedding. The plan event is nice in many ways, especially with Season's calendar feature. But (especially for weddings) this could have been so much better!The guest list is the worst. If groom plans the wedding, then none of the bride's close relatives that he doesn't have a relation to) is invited. If the bride does the planning, none of the groom's relatives will get invited. In this game it is not likely that the two sims have relations to all the other's relatives! Especially not if you play rotationally. And - if they met the other sim's sibling, there is no way they can invite that sibling with spouse/partner to the wedding.For all events, I wish there was a box to check if the invitation includes possible partner (girl/boyfriend/fiancee/spouse). I also wish the game would suggest all relatives from both sides, automatically. Okay, in some situations we might not want them all to attend, but then we could simply uncheck them.The venue - oh my! How easy is it to choose a good wedding location when none of the required (or at least useful) facilities are listed? In my game there are 5-6 lots that already have a wedding arch. Some have a kitchen (for catering), some have a bar and some have instruments. I wish some of these (and more) could be tagged somehow. I understand that a park is a good option, but not mid-Winter!Also - it would be nifty if we could make a gift wish list from catalog. It might me fun getting random gifts, and they can of course just be sold, but making a wish list would make it so much more personal :) Also, I'd much appreciate the couple to receive the gifts before the event ends, then they could have put some of them on a gift table for everyone to admire. Might only be possible on the home lot though, unless we got a specific gift-table object.Ok, end of rant...

And when you tell someone on an official level of your "marriage" they will laugh at you because in the eyes of the law you aren't married as it wasn't cleared in any official sense, hence it was a mock.Then there are shotgun weddings, where there is a baby on the way and not alot of time or money to do something expensive or time consuming, mostly out of fear of not having a love child in the family. There should be options for that as well.Finally venues. There needs to be a church in the game or something official like where sims can go to get married. There also need to be official sims that only show at those venues and can't be seen anywhere else, those sims are the ones who confirm your sims marriage and give your sims their marriage license.

Totally agree about the guest list situation. I alway have an engagement dinner party with the couple and their families so the bride and groom each know each other relatives so I can invite them no matter who I have plan the event. But it can be a bit of a pain to find time and it would be so much easier to at least have the option to invite immediate family from both sides without a lot of prep work so to speak. I also wish wedding venue could be a lot trait or something. Because generic lots don’t seem to appear as a choice and so I end up making many of my indoor venues bars or lounges and then I get a lot of random off list “guests”.

Re the guest list. It makes it even more stupid that the married couple often knew each other for a limited time. It's not natural (in the game) to give priority to meeting all relatives. Young sims are more focused on their romance and their career, and perhaps getting established in a first apartment etc. Meeting everyone related might happen later in life when there are kids, family vacations etc.The game obviously should include a specific "Meet my fiancé/e's relatives" event. With the guest list automatically set up, of course :)

All parties - or at least weddings and birthdays - should allow the guest list to include those known by both the sim setting up the event and the "guest(s) of honor"

It's really my main frustration with parties and the primary reason why I usually don't bother.

I agree, the guest list needs a huge overhaul. You would think the couple would have already met their significant other's family earlier in the relationship, possibly before the engagement but definitely before the wedding.

If we could just phone each of them, from a phone book option, that would be quite okay, but we actually need to knock on each and everyone's door and then to greet each person, to get them on our contact list. That feels quite old fashioned in a world where a sim's life is more or less organized on their cell phone...

I just don't see why as soon as the couple becomes engaged why their partner's family isn't automatically added to their contacts as acquaintances. That way you wouldn't have to call every individual on the phone. Or the guest list could be tied to your family tree as well as friends list, and like you said earlier, just uncheck the ones you don't want at the wedding.

And while I'm on the subject of family being contacts, that needs to extend to grandparents knowing their grandchildren from birth as well. When a baby is born they should automatically appear in the grandparents, aunts/uncles contacts list. I mean it doesn't have to extend to 4th or 5th cousins but it should extend to aunts/uncles, 1st cousins, and definitely grandparents. Especially if the parents of the new child has a great relationship with them. I think it would add a small detail to the game and make you want to do more generational play.

I totally agree with everything you said, @Simmerville , and those are all really good suggestions. I usually don't officially plan the wedding; I just invite a bunch of people over and then get married. Sometimes I'll have a temporary club with all the wedding invitees. I have a mod that allows for more than 8 sims in a club.

Also, if you want to stick with planning it the official way, for the invites, you can always do the relationship cheat first so that the person planning the wedding has a relationship with all necessary sims. The other sim doesn't have to be on the lot for you to do the cheat.
