Why My Sim Is Unresponsive Sometimes?

I appreciate that advice, but my PC definitely exceeds the recommended specs. I may just have a bugged save, but it only started after this last patch, and I don't use any CC or mods. I don't know what's causing it, but I'm going to attempt to troubleshoot it a bit.

It's my main pet peeve. I hit escape a couple times and it usually works, but on their own they can stand there for hours doing nothing sometimes.

Yup, I've been seeing this too. It just happened last night when I tried to start a conversation with another sim who was just getting out of the shower. The action didn't queue and wait to execute like it should; instead the action cancelled itself and my sim froze. I had to use the resetsim cheat to resume play.

If your computer meets requirements it would obviously be another issue but for many we help in tech , their computers don't meet requirements and why their sims freeze and are unresponsive.

Do you have windows 10? Has it updated recently? Have you checked to see that all your drivers are updated?

This happens to my sims, too. Time still passes by, but they can't move. I pause and reset the sims, sometimes a few times for them to start moving again. I hate when it happens during timed events.
