Why not Strangetown!?

According to Grant, Strangetown was barely a thought during this process. So these are two different towns.

This is a game pack, so I'm assuming Strangerville is going to be a small neighborhood, not a fully fleshed out world like Windenburg, so calling it Strangetown would be a really bad move in this community. Under the name Strangetown, simmers would expect a new world, not a little neighborhood. It was smart to clearly differentiate between the two.

Edit: Just saw it will have 11 lots. Definitely not enough to do Strangetown justice, so it's a good move to call it something else even though the setting is similar.

It is funny how Strangerville and Strangetown share several of the same geographic landmarks. Both have the impact crater on the opposing side of town, and Strangetown's main road is echoed in Strangerville's main water source that cuts through the middle of the map. There are also two dead end roads in Strangerville, similar to where the Specter and the Curious lots were located.

GTW's Future Sims Lab is set is built in a similar setting, too.

I mean compare Strangetown's terrain to StrangerVille's, they're totally different. Strangetown is a plain desert like Oasis Springs, while StrangerVille looks more like Monument Valley. It also has a Wild West theme, which Strangetown is lacking as well.

Again, feels like StrangerVille is just Strangetown of another universe or alternate reality. Kind of like Columbia and Rapture in Bioshock.

That main neighbourhood sort of reminds me of the Paradise Place in Strangetown (PSP).

I wasn't trying to be negative about 'Strangerville' but the name similarity could have been avoided imo if they wanna stress that it's not the same thing as Strangetown. To me this still seems like a break in continuity and I don't think anyone would have had an issue comparing the two worlds as if they're supposed to be the same. It just kind of bothers me that since they're so similar, why not have it be called Strangetown.

Sims 4 itself breaks continuity so I don’t understand your reasoning?

I think it's similar enough that those who want it to be an alternate timeline or future or past of Strangetown can make it so, and those who want it to be completely independent and it's own place can do that as well. But as someone who played and loved Sims 2, I'm feeling the connection and I like it. I also really love the Stranger Things series, which this also has a flavor of, so I'm totally happy with it so far. :)
