I hated the rabbit holes in the sims 3. I could send a sim to work, but not go inside the building. Why couldn’t I have at least decorated the inside, and played with them my way inside? It was unstable and crashed too.
In the sims 4 I thought we were going to get mote active careers like in get to work. I was so looking forward to jobs with more workplaces. You had a choice to go or not go, and I thought they were pretty in depth, I loved them!!.
At least in sims 4 I can make my own work places, with all the career objects we got with rabbit holes. Too bad I didn’t have a choice to work at home with the rabbit holes, but at least I could send them there after work to do their homework work, it could also be used for some freelancers. It didn’t take up a lot of space. I made a 20x15 office building. On the firstt floor was a waiting room with a bookshelf that looks more like a living room shelf with sofas and plants, bathrooms, and a children’s play area. Second floor was for tech guru’s with a lot of computers, and a couple of chairs and a coffee pot. The third floor was for my business executive with a secretaries office/small waiting room, and the executives office, could be used for even had the little world drink thing that looked like a world globe, this place can be used for my lawyer too. The first basement was a small work out room, sauna and massage table, and an eating area for lunches, I later made that eating area a cafe too, with a bar. The another basement is for my secret agent , and can also be used for my military covert operator. Another basement is a small home suite for my CEO. I also added a laundry mat on one of the floors with another child play area. So that building can be used for at least 4 or more work places. Plus a cafe, and place for my executive to entertain. So space is not a big problem, though we do need a lot more lots, many of mine have to do at least triple duty. I have a mall/hospital retail too I like one thing about the first rabbit hole careers.... the fact that they gave us a lot of promotion objects that could be used to make a work area. Too bad we couldn’t choose work from home with them too.
I know some people have made schools for their teachers, I think I downloaded one, still need to find a place for it. I’m not sure if I can send them to university to sit in on things there after school. And I need to download a lot I can use to make a spot for a judge, politician, and that planner in Sulani. I also like those little jobs you can do in Sulani, and sales table and hobbies that create things you can sell on tables, along with beachcomber items and archeology items, and things like that.
.My DJ in sims 4, or a team dance group or bartender, only needs to go to a night club. My DJ ears money too, can’t remember if the bartender can earn money. I have to say I was disappointed in the military career, too few career additions, iwidh they had the object from the sims 2 and a shooting range, instead of just the sparing machine. Career rewards are well used in my game.
After realizing concerts and holiday rabbit hole were rabbit holes, I never used them again. I also haven’t been to the cave in Sulani, and quite honestly don’t much care for University. We could at least have been sent to a place like Sylvan glade for a set up concert to sit down and watch. Maybe we will get bands later and be able to make our own concert.
Rabbit holes for me are no fun.....
Everything you do in TS4, I also do. I use the club system to make my sims go to work with their co-workers and work at the office I created for them. I also have a rent-a-desk office for sims that are freelancers. But I also did the same in TS3. I never used the building rabbit holes, I used mods to make them all open and accessible.
I am a fan of rabbit holes, though, because at least it is an aesthetically pleasing building where my sims disappear. In TS4, they walk and disappear and that is too 20 years ago for me.- SheriSim5 years agoSeasoned Ace

Well, I don’t enjoy rabbit holes, but I do think people should have a choice to go to the work place or just be sent off to work. I do miss cars though, at least it could look like they were leaving to work, and with enough career rewards, you could at least send your sim to a work lot after. And with careers after get to work you have an option for work at home. But I still love the work places with objectives. They put so much thought into the get to work careers. Though I do think any sim should be able to use all the work items from the packs, even if they are not part of that profession. My first main sim did not have a job. But keeps busy gardening, using the microscope, bee hive, painting easel etc. too bad she can’t make scientific potions too. But, I have diwnloaded some for her store. - filipomel5 years agoSeasoned AceTo be honest I would like to see more University/Batuu style rabbit holes in all existing worlds, it would make the closed spaces feel much more interactive, there could be a variety of locations like grocery stores, salons, spas, restaurants, etc. where Sims disappear for a moment and return with appropriate buffs and motive/relationship increases.
Either this, or give players the option to send sims to a community lot alone similar to how active careers work. - crocobaura5 years agoLegend

It's a shame there isn't many, I really don't understand the anti on them. I would much rather my sim actually go somewhere for work rather than just disappearing into nowhere.
There aren't enough lots to go with the neighbourhoods as it is, they can't use them up with rabbit holes and the neighbourhoods are quite small, they can't plop them in the neighbourhood space either. Also I wouldn't like to travel with my sims to their workplace just to wait outside on the sidewalk for them to end their shift. I say good riddance to rabbit hole buildings, they are big and bulky and do nothing for gameplay, like the stadium in University.
They could actually include them in all that empty space around neighborhoods. They don't have to be on a lot, just somewhere a sim can get to.
Heck, I'd be happy if my sim could walk to those fake buildings beyond and just walk into one. At least they'd go somewhere.
We have plenty of nice places that our sims can walk to, don't need rabbit hole buildings for that. I don't like the fake buildings and the fact that there are so many of them in a neighbourhood. They used to be on the outskirts of the neighbourhoods, somewhere beyond reach like across the river, but lately they were brought closer and closer to the point that we have only one or two livable lots in a neighbourhood. I'll be honest, I don't like the GTW careers. They're too repetitive and it annoyed me that the hospital career made even my surgeon change the bed sheets. So I played it once and then never again. I would like to open a doctor's office, though. I'd like to be able to take my own sick sims there to get cured or play as a doctor or nurse. I'd also like it if you can't get past a certain level in the career without a degree if you have uni installed. Stuff like that makes playing more meaningful to me.
I do miss cars and that would make not having rabbit holes a lot better because they'd drive away rather than just disappearing at the front of their lot.- Sharooonia5 years agoSeasoned AceI know it's a matter of opinion but I for one am glad that the Sims 4 doesn't have many rabbit holes beyond work and school. I like to observe my sims as they go about their lives. I don't want to sit outside a building wondering what they are doing all the time.

@Mstybl95 But I think that is not an issue with the concept of "active" careers and lots, it's an issue with their execution. I think the idea of being able to follow your Sims has a lot of potential but there needs to be some work done on the execution so it doesn't get so repetitive.
Personally I am in favor of more active stuff and less rabbit holes. However, I think the best compromise is, to do what the team did with Get to Work. Have an option to not follow your sim when you feel like the jobs are getting repetitive or you simply want to focus on other sims on the household. I believe a better execution of the concept is the best solution than completely removing the feature of interactive lots. "SimmerGeorge;c-17851859" wrote:

Oh, I definitely agree! I don't want rabbit holes at all, which is why I used to not play with the careers that couldn't be modded to an active career. I like the work from home option now because I made a club to get all my workers together during the work day. I just absolutely did not like the execution of the GTW careers.
