Will Father Winter only appear by fireplaces?

I’m about to have my first Sims 4 Winterfest.
The Pancakes, including their little girl, are just waking up to Winterfest morning.
The list of tradtitons for the holidays specifies that Father Winter appears near fireplaces at 8pm

The Pancakes don’t have a fireplace. :(

Are they going to miss out on presents from Father Winter if I don’t get them one?

    If you don't have fireplace, he'll just show up by the front door. I had a fireplace and was eagerly watching it to see him emerge from the fireplace, but he just spawned in front of it. There's no interaction with the fireplace whatsoever when Father Winter appaears.

    He will show up. He visited my sim in a San Myshuno flat, and another sim staying in a cabin at Granite Falls, neither had fireplace.

    He appeared on the front porch at one of my homes that didn't have a fireplace.

    I'm pretty sure you don't need either of those for him to appear. Simply place the Father Winter tradition on that day and he's sure to appear anyway. The presents are necessary only when you want him to leave you presents in them, or you can ask him directly for it (or, you know, punch him and take a present instead)!

    As others have said, you do not need fireplaces! :smile: Father Winter showed up at nighttime in my own game as well, and there were no chimneys/fireplaces in any of my sims’ houses.
