I have 0 good knowledge of computers, but the Surface pro 3 i was using has a swollen battery, and so i desperately need a new computer. I am getting a laptop for now, but will also be getting a dedicated gaming computer later. None of them are great. The first one is only one I’d even consider. The others have an i3 and integrated graphics respectively.

You won’t be running on ultra, even with the first one. And that one only has a 256 GB SSD, which might become a concern.

If you can push your budget a little further, look for an i5 (the Ryzen 5 is okay) and a GPU in the GTX 1050 range.

Oh, i know. JB hifi tend to price up, i can find them cheaper elsewhere, i just find their website more user friendly. The first one i found $400 cheaper somewhere else.

I legit have no idea what any of that means. The guy at the physical store said nothing in my budget (about $1300AUD) would run it, and essentially laughed at me.

Is there anything on that website on my budget in laptops you think would work well? To play on say, high, with all packs, a few mods and cc?

The first one is probably the best one. But personally, I would go for brands that are experts at gaming. I'm not sure how good the Acer Nitro is but HP Pavilions are not really gaming laptops cuz the cooling system might not be the best.

A good gaming laptop should not go over 85-90 Deg C.

I suggest you also get yourself a laptop cooler/fan if possible.

And also, I suggest you also do some more digging for all these models that So_money and I have listed and see if other people had problems etc, and just gauge which one is the least problematic.

@DeKay In my experience Acers are fine. I like them. I have a Triton 500 myself. MSIs are fine too, albeit a bit overpriced IMO. Obviously not as overpriced as ROG branded stuff or Alienware or Razer mind you. I saw the MSI you linked, but passed it by thinking it was beyond the budget.

@LadyKyn The laptop you linked is essentially the same as the Acer I recommended, but with an older processor. That’s a US storefront, though. Not sure what the price would be on Amazon AU or if that third-party merchant even sells to AU.

I would shop elsewhere and if you are in the States I would use Walmart, Newegg and of course Amazon. New Egg I prefer for laptops and desktops as I got my gaming laptop for $749 a couple of years ago
