I just installed RtF, also have Get Famous and it's working good. I think it actually works seperately from Get Famous, so that you can still use the mod along with the expansion. I agree...I was really hoping for a singing career (which we didn't get for some reason), which is what got me interested in this mod.
Probably because the singing skill came with City Living and to make a good singing career you would need that as a promotion requirement. And we have the Musician branch of the Entertainer career which is not really the same, but close.
I hadn't thought of this and it makes sense, now that you've mentioned it. Well, they could still have added a "Professional Singing" career and made a concert venue (with lights and props) for Del Sol Valley. I also would've loved new instruments and the ability to form and play in a band. That would have made the GF EP so much better!
