I'm trying to understand the point of preordering... I've been a simmer for over a decade, but recently got into the Sims 4. If I preorder, will I get to play the game earlier? What time will it be released?
EA is one of the companies that I do not preorder from since the release of Sim City 2013 which changed when I buy a game. There are a few companies that I would preorder from based on the honesty, value and truth. To get one to preorder items or additional content is used like carrots to entice the customer and that works well for some but not for me. :)
Nope, whilst it looks great and I am excited for it, I feel I have been duped too many times by this series. I will be waiting for other players to stream some game play footage, if I like what I see I will buy it, if not I will wait for a sale. I was really excited by the Cats & Dogs and City Living EP's, so I pre-ordered and felt burnt when it came to actually playing. This time I am going with my head and not rose-tinted goggles
Honestly there's zero benefit whatsoever to preordering anything for the sims but I sometimes do it anyway just cause I'm really excited about the new content. It starts downloading either way asa you bought it so that's not an argument to me. You don't lose more than a few seconds by buying it on release day, so the choice is really up to you and your situation. Cause the only real benefit for someone may be that they have the money now and spend it now to get it out of the way and not use their next paycheck or whatever. But whether you give that money to EA now or put it aside and give it to them later, also doesn't really make much of a difference, except maybe a subjective feeling about it :)
I preorder so that I’ve already set aside the money for it and paid for it so to speak. I buy the EA cash cards and order it so that I can have it already budgeted out of my “fun money”. I also usually have little bits from the cards left over for anything else that comes out too or to continue spoiling my bestie with stuff she doesn’t have yet for sims. It’s also just nice to see it say that I own that content even if I have to wait longer to download.
No. There's no advantage such as presinstallation or any such thing, and with a digital storefront there is no risk of running out of copies like in the old days of discs. So even with something that is an instant, day-one buy for me such as Seasons I will still purchase on release.
