No, it's a bad idea.
If it's a real religion, people will complain if it's not their religion. They will complain because it's a religion they don't like or absolutely don't believe in. They will complain because it may include something their real life religion frowns upon. They will complain because they don't want religion at all. They will complain because it makes them uncomfortable. The list could go on and on.
If it's a made up religion, people will complain about and debate what religion it's based off of. Then, of course, all of the above will happen. :lol:
I think it's best that religion stay out of this game. They'd never be able to make a religion everyone would accept and agree on, so it's best to just stay out of it, as I think EA will pretty much continue to do.
