How will the worshiping work? That's a totally different question. I know I definitely don't want my sims to read a religious book or get on their knees and prey for forgiveness. I wouldn't even want the union of two sims (marriage) to be linked to said religion either.
Well some people would like that the marriage could be tied to it if they desire, and i myself would like to see they to pray for me, i think that could come in hand if one decided to make some dramatic scene for a movie or what not. One solution is to make one of TSM religions with the priests jobs etc and a rename system to the god or godeth or wathever...and rename the religious group too.
Conclusion: It's a touchy subject for a lot of people. But hey, if they ever manage to find a way around it and make it so all of us can be okay with it, then I'll be willing to give it a try, so long it is not a mandatory feature and I can disable it if I so desire.
Having Options is good to everyone.

No thank you. It is a nice idea, but I think it would be too restrictive, at least for the way I play. It worked well for the more structured, quest-driven TSM, but I don't think it would be right for the main Sims series.
Even in TSM is totally optional to go in any of churches and many of quests have nothing to do with then. I dont see your reasoning here. The only restrictive thing is not let devs build something to other players because YOU would not want it. Just dont put the freaking building in your city!
