It’s been almost 4 years and we’re still without a CAW tool, SimGuruDrake recently tweeted that there isn’t even one in the works, so what’s the problem? I’m sure the dev team is fully aware that the community has been asking since the base game, that players want to be able to build their own worlds, not having to rely on the slow release schedule of the official worlds, yet nothing has been done to give us that option.I think a possible reason is that the investment of dev time and resources that it would take to create a custom world tool isn’t worth the very small percentage of players that would actually use it, especially if they can’t make any revenue from it, and obviously they can’t just give public access to whatever program they use to create their official worlds.But what if they could make a profit? If they released a Create a World pack for let’s say... $10, and it included a tool to create as many custom worlds as you want, a short tutorial on how to use the tool, and access to infinite player-made worlds on the gallery, would you buy it?Even if you had no interest in using the tool, you would be getting as many custom worlds as you could possibly need, and wouldn’t be restricted to the few worlds we have now/the limited number of worlds we have left.Would infinite custom worlds be worth $10 for you?

I don’t feel I can vote. I would like create a world but there is no way in hell I would pay for it. That would be a low move even for EA.Also I doubt it would be as simple as just downloading others worlds, for those that use cc and those that don’t there would be issues there not to mention potential issues with routing etc.

I can't vote. I'd like create a world tool but no way would I pay for it when it has been free in the previous sims.

I don’t see the appeal of custom worlds at all. TS3 had a ton of custom worlds but most of them just looked like another Sunset Valley or another Bridgeport, since most players were simply making worlds using EA’s assets, as opposed to creating their own assets. The truly different, unique-looking TS3 worlds - like Midnight Hollow, Dragon Valley, Lunar Lakes - were all made by EA themselves.

TS3 had multiple nice Store worlds, why can't they release a bunch of random worlds for TS4 too? In addition to EPs, GPs and SPs, they could create WPs; World Packs. They'd be like stuff packs, but with nice worlds, which may include some new stuff in them. I'd gladly buy those.

Not actually as this game has an issue with even the devs making alterations of the original maps - and requires new coding in order to not break saves. So that idea doesn't work in this game. I believe this smart technology game engine does not adapt to changes without also adding new code. We have no full access to code even if we are capable of doing code. In other words placement changes are not acceptable of this software apparently. It won't even allow the simple off on use of toggles that were not in the base game at the start - so editing the off lot hood is out of the question when the game eventually errors when one does so.

I just can't see any of that possible with this rather unique game engine no matter how badly I wish it wasn't the way it is.

(I think it’s not even possible by the way, a tool like that for Sims 4)

I’d want an option to at least being able to edit a world, not interested in CAW myself. I definitely wouldn’t pay for it though. I paid for Sims 3 worlds because they were worth it as a product, not the same thing as a tool.

I would, but it was free for The Sims 3, and due to the way worlds are made in The Sims 4 it would be underwhelming.(I kind of like my worlds better than the official ones...)

I'm not too sure of the exact date when it was made, but the Create-a-World tool came out a bit after TS3. It doesn't seem like it was too much later, but it wasn't at the start, just early on.
I do recall that you could edit worlds in The Sims 2 though, I can't remember how much.

I would gladly pay for a CAW tool and I would pay more than $10 for it because I would want it done right not a with stuff pack budget, I'd
easily pay $40 for it if they did it right and gave us complete customization. These un-editable pre decorated ugly worlds that never fit the style of homes/towns I want to build take away a lot from this game maybe I'm spoiled with amazing worlds of the past that I have created and worlds created by other players but it is so hard using these worlds we have now.

Yeah, I'd pay $40 for a CAW tool. I badly miss being able to customize my environment.

I would pay well over $10.

And I would pay more than $10 for individual worlds by Maxis.

I think the game needs more worlds/space badly. Not one "world" per year. :(

If anyone got the store worlds, outside of Barnacle Bay for 20 bucks - then more power to you - Lucky Palms cost me 47 dollars and several others were also in the 40 dollar plus range. I bought them as they came out along with the premium content - so believe me - it was rare to get one under 30-40 dollars.

I also used to help my friends with their user made worlds as well. I have over 45 user made worlds - all the Maxis worlds and all the store worlds in my sims 3 game right now (and another couple of hundred in a back up folder in my secondary drive) - and if they had every been available in those varieties for Sims 4 - I'd probably have all of those as well. I like worlds - the bigger the better. That's why I run a high end gaming desk top - lol.

It is just plain sad we can not add worlds to this game. I even used to make works for Sims 2 using my Sim City 4 game to make templates for the game - I really need lots of choices and it is really annoying when creativity is stifled in a game where part of the game play has always allowed creating onto the worlds (like Sims 1 did) or new ones like we could do in Sims 2 and 3. I can not figure out how it was suddenly okay to take away that part of our game play. I have a lot of friends that all they do is build worlds and now they can't even play Sims 4 - so they all went back to Sims 3. Just plain sad. I've been friends here with many of these people since Sims 1. They are good people and Sims 4 has nothing for them.

Who ever decided that was okay - well they need to rethink that as they keep a large number of players unable to play the game the way they play it. Believe me OP - what you want is not possible. One of those people is a computer teacher - he teacher computer and he knows it's not possible. His work has been amazing for the life of this game since Sims 1 - and now all he can do is make lots. He used to go to the Sims Camp and Maxis has even used some of his work in the actual game - he's that good. Ridiculous this can't be changed. When we asked the devs to let us make our own world - Daniel made us New Crest and indicated that was the most they could do..
