If it was an optional add-on to Sims 5, I'd try it out once to troll and harass people. You know, just have my sim constantly slapping others. But other than that, I'm not interested in a multiplayer experience for a game like The Sims.
Or send a dragon to visit! ? - SheriSim4 years agoSeasoned Ace

I just don’t think it can be managed in the way I would like.
I’d be up for playing with nominated family and friends. And when you’re offline your town is paused with no risks.
What puts me off:
The idea of strangers coming in and making changes is horrifying! ?
Plus most online games require constant connection and people can still affect changes when you aren’t around. It’s too stressful.
In the war games I play you have to put up a shield to protect your base but the longest is 3 days. So you still need to be online at least twice a week to maintain a shield.
These aren’t free, you have to buy gems ? . You can only win 8 hour or 24hr shields.
You have to find the right group who will help you. The first two groups I was in were fun but the latest is more task oriented so less chat.
I wouldn’t like to do this for any Sims games at all. I imagine micro transactions would be constant. Or some subscriptions being made available to advance quicker.
I definitely would not like to play a sims game where my sims town could have people come change things in it for sure. I figured if they had single player and multiplayer, they would be totally different games. - MaggieMae72764 years agoSeasoned AceI will have to see what is actually like, but I don't think I would play sims as an MMO, especially if there is a subscription required. I don't care for micro transactions either. If I buy a game, I wouldn't want to pay to play. I play ESO occasionally but buy expansions if I want it rather than pay a subscription. I enjoy ESO but get frustrated with the constant interference from other players, i.e. in dungeon and someone just runs through causing the bad guys to come at me in force because that person won't stay and deal with the chaos. I am mainly a lone player, as most of my friends and family don't play alot of games that I do. Have been playing more Skyrim than ESO lately as found I wasn't enjoying the online game. I am also concerned that with the new technology I would have to buy a higher end computer and can't afford it right now. The new computers are very expensive. Besides, I have Sims 2, 3, Medieval and 4 so don't feel I need another Sims game unless I think I will really enjoy it. I don't have a lot of time to play, so keeping up with these games is a challenge!

I wonder if they would have separate worlds for single player and multiplayer?
Would it be easier if one world was the multiplayer so it’s only if you go live there that people could make changes. That way it’s your choice if you want to go there. - Too much harassment in MMOs. Also worried the single player will be lacking or have to be tied online or Improvements or whatnot attached to microtransactions
- I am often left wondering how an MMO version of the Sims would work.
In games like World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy, Champions Online (or the defunct City of Heroes) - there's a definite path of progression from a green new player to a veteran who has defeated the major challenges of that game. There's no such equivalent in the Sims.
We (Sims players) make our own schedules, and decide our own paths to success. There's equal fun to be had from making a supermodel who lives in a concrete shed, or a starving family of 5 who live in a mansion that costs $5 less than their starting funds.
I guess the point I am trying to make is that a big part of the attraction and longevity of the Sims is that the ultimate success of your Sims is completely in the individual player's hands. It's not limited by someone else's imagination. An MMO removes that by chanelling the player along a narrower set of waypoints to whatever their arbitrary goal is.
Ultimately I think that persuing a hybrid game design is the way to go. Have a solid offline game such as we have now. Have the ability to take your Sims to multiplayer areas to interact with other people's Sims. I'd be down for that, because if it turned out to be terrible, or threatening, or laggy or disjointed, I could just bail out and send my Sims home. I can appreciate that multiplayer is not everyone's cup of tea.
I'd imagine (in the scenario above) that it would play like going to say, Geek-Con, and instead of having all NPCs wandering about, there would be other players' Sims. That could be kind of fun.
Hmm this post was longer than I expected. - LadyKyn4 years agoSeasoned AceGot this feeling a sims MMORPG would consist of nothing but fetch quests and escort missions. :s
A dedicated game to just that? No thanks. If there was an option to connect with friends and such then maybe. Pretty sure I'd be responsible for multiple fire related deaths. :p - MsMay254 years agoNew HotshotNot interesting playing A Sims MMORPG. I preferred single player so I can get away from problem and do whatever I want in this life simulation.
- rjssim4 years agoSeasoned AceNope!
- All of my favorite things to do in Sims games would be absolutely spoiled by other people.
I couldn't tell my stories, because other people would insert themselves into it and spoil it, I couldn't design the world, and all the sims, and all the locations to fit my preferences, because other people would insert themselves into it and spoil it, and I couldn't get away from the drama and annoyances of the real world...because other people are the reason for all of that and they'd be there too.
So...ummm..yah, no thanks.
I love the gallery in TS4, I love adding things made by other people. But I also love having it be my choice and my choice alone what, where, when and how anything by any other person gets added.
BTW, I play MMO's. In fact, the game which I have the most total hours played across my 20 year history of gaming is an MMO (or more accurately, was an MMO; the servers were shut down).
But the Sims. absolutely, no way, ever.
