I swear my Sim has spent hours and hours on the guitar, writing "A Mournful Lament" which was the first random title to come up when she just got enough skill to begin writing her own music.I seem to have about six or seven "Mournful Lament" sheet music items in her inventory.I also seem to remember having no luck with this last time I had a musician Sim. I would like to have a crack at the aspiration.So, what am I doing wrong? Is it supposed to take about four or five times as long as it takes my author Sim to write a book? I'm talking several sessions of hours long here. It doesn't seem to matter if I click the guitar or the music.Please help.

It takes a really long time to write a song. To continue a song that you already started you must click the music sheet in your inventory.

It does take a crazy long time to write a song in comparison to writing a book and you can't just publish them at the same rate either. I can only guess that two different developers worked on those aspirations and timing. You can make a bunch of money writing books also... not so much for music. I wish they would even up the process some.

Between the trio of music, writing, and painting, music is definitely the only one that really makes you work for it. I kind of wish the other two were nerfed to the same level as music. But I do agree they should be balanced, whether that means making music more lucrative or making the other two less lucrative. The way it is now, it just feels really unsatisfying trying to play a musician, when you know they could be profiting much more from one of the other fields.

It's annoying that you can only license one song at a time, but you can license songs over and over again.

Writing Songs. Am I doing it wrong? It seems to be taking forever.

I had a similar problem writing with the violin....every time I stopped it seemed as if the guage for writing the song reset

Eventually she grew up and moved out with her sister so I never solved the problem...but nor did I ever write even ONE song...I felt like it was a glitch gave up and moved on but I really am not sure

Yes, it's the only possible explanation as to why they are so different. I always want some of my sims to live off music like I have so many that are freelance writers but it's just not worth it.

Wow...I had no idea there were music sheets appearing in her inventory at all.....wonder how many she had when she moved out now, as apparently I always just started writing a new song....at least i know why it was taking so long now

This is where the game properly reflects RL. Writing takes time. There are only a handful who can turn out books and/or music very quickly. It's a pain in the tuckus, but considering a Sim isn't allowed to publish more than one piece in a Sim week, this gives said Sim time to work on their next project.
