It only seems to happen to lots that were changed from commercial lots to residential.

You'll need to move the family out, click the box to sell their stuff so it will be there when you send them back. Then after you have moved them out, you'll need to merge the family out, like you are blending households. Because it won't allow you to move or evict the home, because the only option otherwise is to sell the business. Once you get the family out, go back into build/buy mode, and then change the lot trait to whatever it says in Map Mode, close that section, then open it back up, and change it to residential. It seems if sims aren’t living there it’s a super easy fix. Just go in and reclick the lot type was all I did. Fixed it no problem. It seems a bit random but also does seem to correlate with lots changed and edited.
