It was such a great year for free stuff!
Ponds: huge thanks to whoever worked on these. All the pretty waters and deco items have been so fun to use, and the functionality of the fishing options are excellent, and so versatile. Great for community lots, my sims visit and they can add what they've caught to the one pond, so the variety increases all the time. And my bakers at their home love having a pond that just has salmon, trout and bass, so they can always cook/bake those fish meals. The ducks having babies in spring is such a lovely little detail... of course, now I'm itching for sims to watch, chat and feed them! Wading/playing in the pond is a great bonus, especially for toddlers and kids. I think they're an exceptional addition, and very glad to have them.
Likes/Dislikes: We had a lot of hobby type gameplay, but so much of it didn't increase the sims' fun. So yay! for this inclusion, great way to remedy this. I also like the flipside, a sim who hates cooking but has to do it, and then gets to grumble about it later is just another little way to add a bit more personality and just a bit more unique. I'm excited for them to add more.
Kids updates: I think I literally cheered when I read about kids gardening and cooking. And the spa updates for kids were an unexpected bonus! Even toddlers can play on the spa mat, so cute. It gives me hope that there may be more updates down the track, like bikes. oooooh<3
Spa Update: I'm having fun with the new aspirations and LOVE that now sims can teach classes, something I've wanted since it first came out.
Scared Emotion: I hope this is just the beginning. So much could be done now we have this important emotion. eg, a phobia type system - spiders, clowns, vampires, ghosts etc, could lead to sims having life time irrational fears - which can only be cured it they see a shrink! Heap of gameplay could be added around this emotion, so my fingers are crossed they're going to expand on it.
Cottage Living EP: I think this might be the best produced Sims 4 EP to date. Not only is the world a highlight, but so is CAS, build/buy AND the depth of gameplay it offers. They way they've tied all the game elements together is really commendable - too many to highlight right now, or may post will turn into a thesis! A real highlight for me not just for this year, but of all 20 years I've been playing. Well done team!
Paranormal Stuff: So impressed with what this team was able to cram into a small pack! Take a standing ovation guys, job well done! New lot type, traits, career, 3 new NPCS - completely new way of playing the game! Love the doll and that you can talk with her, love the little candy jars and the effects of the treats, all the other stuff you get through the spectres, a new skill - and all that it adds to the game. Again, I think this is a highlight of the entire Sims 4 stuff packs.
