About Gallery, why is this forbidden?

There's something that's been bugging me for a while and unless I can get an answer as to why this is, it's going to become something of a festering wound:

Every time I try to put "DLC" in a comment/description it tells me it's "Forbidden Words"; but in all cases I've used it as a collective representation of Packs & Kits combined. So I guess what I'm wondering is why is this particular abbreviation forbidden? Is there some hidden logic to it? I'm honestly not trying to start trouble, but it hurts that I can't speak the way I want because of artificial restraints like this; this game is supposed to be inclusive, and this just strikes me as exclusive behavior? It's puzzling to me, so could someone spare a moment to give an explanation? Thanks in advance.

  • @LeissaMyst Which words are being flagged as 'forbidden' can be very perplexing. I'm not saying that this is the case with 'dlc', as I know of no reason that would be forbidden, but just as an example...

In the past I've been involved with helping several people figure out which word in their description was forbidden, and sometimes why. The reason can be one we can understand - or sometimes that we cannot figure out. And, of course, as with many things, there is the possibility that human or tech error is involved. If you want to find out if there is a reason  or if it's an oversight, you can certainly contact EA and ask them: https://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/new/

Keep in mind that once you figure out which word is causing a flag, it can also be difficult to tell why. A large part of this is due to the fact that many languages are involved. Plus factors like modern, archaic, abbreviations, slang, and other factors for all of these languages come into play.

  • @LeissaMyst Hello!  Yes, "forbidden words" are often linked to some kind of slang, as @SheriGR mentioned, and that slang usually gives it a meaning that is deemed inappropriate.  Even though DLC is widely known as an acronym for downloadable content, I was able to find some rather explicit alternate definitions as well.  It's possible that some algorithm also found these definitions and added the term to the "forbidden" list.
