Adult Sims' Panels not displaying correctly, only toddler
Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.90.358.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? The Sims 4 Digital Deluxe, City Living, Cottage Living, Discover University, Seasons, Get Together, Get to Work, Realm of Magic, Vampires, Cool Kitchen Stuff, Holiday Celebration
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I launched my game today after it asked to be updated and the game is currently unplayable as far as I'm concerned. I'm not even sure what to call this, so I can't even look to see if anyone else is having this issue.
What happens when the bug occurs? The first thing I noticed is that both of my adult sims were missing part of their border/panel where actions are supposed to be. Since I do usually have a few script mods installed to fix bugs, I decided to remove those and see if it would fix the problem. It did not. Instead it gave me false hope, since it looked as if it was fixed, but instead, the previously missing part of the panel by my two adult sims' portraits were instead a copy/paste of my toddlers (picture shows both mother and daughter with same action of going to sleep in toddler bed). I then noticed that the mothers energy was going up, and realized that the entire needs panel was actually the toddlers, and not the mothers. I then went looking through each panel, and they are all for my toddler. Both of her mothers have the toddlers panels (including the inability to get careers, etc). The picture I posted showing this is of my VAMPIRE girl, not the spellcaster mother, who very much has a caster icon for her needs. Neither of the adults are able to do anything, only the toddler.
What do you expect to see? I need my sims' panels to actually show and not just have access only to my toddler. I have no idea what their needs are and I can't tell them to do anything.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. When I went to play my game today it said it needed to update first. The last time I played was July 18 and everything was fine. I have made no other changes between then and now as I didn't even have access to my computer, so whatever patches came out since and I just installed are the cause.
I have another issue with game options, where I think the toggle for whims is just straight up missing. I never play with whims, and yet there are thought bubbles around my sims now (I assume these are whims, I have no idea what else they would be). That I can live with, although being unable to close the game options menu and have to forcefully exit out of the game is a pain in the butt, but I'll report this issue separately.
Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199
You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files and make a backup.
After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.
Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.
- Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
- Tray Folder
- Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
- Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)
- Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
- ConfigOverride, if you have your own configuration files.
- Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)
The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.
