Afraid to Try CC Again

I want to experiment with CC again (MM hairstyles mainly) but every time I do, my game gets borked to heck and back. My hubby told me to stay away from CC and I have for a long time but there are so many new pretty hairs out there! How do I prevent my game from being completely borked again, or should I just keep avoiding CC? My only mods are MCCC and No Mosiac.

  • In what way was your game borked? Generally, especially with CC hair, it shouldn't break anything. The only thing going wrong I could imagine is if you were missing the mesh of a recolor, which would make the hair glitch. To avoid that simply make sure that you always download the mesh if a hair says "Mesh required", then there shouldn't be any issues.

The game would freeze and lag horribly, graphics issues, really weird glitches. Moodlets would increase in size and I'd get really weird moodlets from traits that my Sim didn't have (option to Flirt With/Talk to Self when she didn't have the Erratic trait) etc and an error that said data would be corrupted if I continued to load my game. I had to delete and restart many saves due to these issues and finally said forget CC, not worth the hassle.
  • That sounds like outdated CC. Try sticking to CC that's fairly new, and always keep a backup save.
  • If it's causing performance issues then it's possible your system can't handle all the extra content. The other issues, I dunno. I've never heard of CC causing anything like that to happen.

As long as you're adding things slowly, making sure that everything is working properly and that your system can handle the additional stress you're putting onto your game, you shouldn't run into any issues.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too but one or two hairstyles shouldn't bork my game like that. I'll wait till I have a better PC that can handle it. :)

Maxis Match stuff probably wouldn't hurt your game.
