All of my mods and CC is suddenly broken
Hi everyone!
after having a lot of trouble with my game not launching i had to reinstall my game. i had saved all my mods and CC to put back in the new game. now the new game is working but when i put the mods and CC in, the game won't start cause everything is broken. Even when i take the mods out and just keep the CC in, it still says it's broken.
I'm fine redownloading the mods but the CC would be really painful. i have almost 6000 CC's and have used it to build basically everything in my save.
Is there any way to make the CC (and possibly the mods too) work again? without having to redownload it all?
i''m desperate☹️
@c66axczx Hello! I'm sorry you're having trouble with your game. Unfortunately, there is no way to repair broken CC. You would need to find all the ones that are broken and look for updates, if available. However, you may discover that some of the older CC may no longer be compatible with the game. With so many CC, the best option is to use a 50/50 method for finding the broken ones. It can be a bit of a tedious process but it will be worth it to fix your game. Click the spoiler for steps to test your Mods and CC.
Spoiler1. Create a new game for testing so that your current save is left unchanged until you've identified the problem mods/CC.
2. Create some folders on your desktop; perhaps one labeled "Tested Safe Mods-CC", another labeled "Mods-CC Needs Testing" and one more labeled "Broken Mods-CC" so you know which ones to check for updates. This will keep tested mods/CC separated.
3. Exit the game if you haven't already, and divide your mods/CC in half; put one half in the Needs Testing folder and put/keep the other half into the Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 / Mods folder.
4. Delete the localthumbcache.package file, located in the Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 folder before opening the game with the half you're testing,
5. If the game works with that half, exit the game, move that half to the Safe Mods-CC folder and move the remaining "Needs Testing" mods back to the Mods folder to test (Again, delete that cache file before opening the game.)
6. Once you know which half is causing the issue, divide those in half, keeping one half in the "Needs Testing" folder and one half in your Mods folder, and test again (delete the cache file each time after moving mods/CC and before opening the game) and moving mods/CC not causing problems into the Safe folder.
7. Repeat this process until you find all that are broken.
