Anyone else sick of Patreon??

Not sure if this is the right place to put this, but is anyone else sick of everyone putting their new CC on patreon?
It's like everything I see that I want to download I have to pay for. I wouldn't mind if it was just a few people doing it, where you had to wait for it, but it's to the point where every new CC I find is now on sale. Its the worst when people don't have early access, but keep everything locked away behind the pay screen. I get it, people spend time on making CC, but I think it takes all the fun out of the game. I just find it beyond annoying and waned to rant about it!

I am sure some people, especially CC creators, may disagree with me. But in reality, who can pay to download all CC from all of these sites??

  • I don't mind it but it's annoying when I'm looking on cc finds blogs and then I find something I like and it says I can't download it for 2+ weeks. I'm cool with it as it gives creators more of an incentive to make good and regular content as they're getting something back, but it annoys me when some creators take advantage and lock things behind paywalls.

Like for example the NPCC mod is great, but the creator has locked every update from the past year behind a paywall. The public version is outdated and doesn't work properly anymore but the creator refuses to update it publicly. I would subscribe just to get it because the mod is one of my favorites and I want to get an updated version, but I have no respect for creators who do that so I'm not gonna give them my money.
  • Sometimes Yes just 2 mins ago wanting to download it for a jacket But I would have to pay for it and I wasn't going to pay 5 bucks for it? Sure the jacket looked cool but no. But those like does Patreon for free its followers are great or if have to wait a few weeks to download it then fine otherwise is a No.
  • The quickest way to lose me and my donation is to place anything, mods or CC, behind a paywall. But I happily support anyone who wants to share their creations for free, for everyone to use. I don't care how good the content is, once a creator starts charging for everything they create, I don't go to their site on Patreon again. I never download from any site that uses AdFly either. That's just asking for trouble. I use a security program that loses it's mind every time that pops up, then I close the tab and never go back.
  • I don't mind Patreon at all. What does bug me enormously, however, is when modders/cc creators flout EA's TOUs and never release their content publicly. I've come across one modder recently who created a mod back in February that they still haven't released publicly, six months later.
  • I don't mind Patreon. I don't mind when mods are behind a paywall as long as they're released publicly. The way I see it, waiting for the free version tells me that it's completely ready for release; that the "kinks" are out especially if it's a new mod. I would rather wait the extra two weeks then have to figure out why I'm getting a LE or a BE for a mod that I just downloaded. But that's just me.
In the beginning, I avoided Patreon because I had never heard of it, then I started browsing some of the modders' posts and found yet another place to "mod shop" and now I go on there to find mods a lot, but mostly to update my mods.
Sometimes I find myself jumping between a modder's patreon and their tumblr or MTS page.
I do however remember one modding site that goes back to Sims 2 or was it Sims 3? Their reputation was to charge for all of their mods. Nothing was free and everyone said stay away from it for that reason.
  • I don't mind Patreon except their site design, finding what cc a creator have made on a Patreon page is way more difficult than it should be.
  • I just don't like how people keep cc and mods behind a paywall when they are supposed to be released to the public within two weeks and nothing is done about it. Already have to pay quite a bit for packs, not going to pay for every cc out there on top of that (besides breaking EA's rules, all that would add up and just can't afford to do that).

  • The ONLY thing the would truly make me upset is if community tools where made to-pay. I remember back in the Sims 2 time where the game was left unsupported with many bugs. The community is what kept the game going. The community created fixes for those bugs. If there became a new download organizer (or any new tool) for the Sims 4 and it was only kept behind a paywall, then I would be upset. Hefty mods like that take a lot of work and some compensation is warranted, but requiring people to pay to fix their game or to improve their play is just wrong-- in my opinion.

Now I don't agree with other CC being kept behind a paywall forever, but that wouldn't cause me to have negative feelings because ultimately in my play I view CC like new clothes and mods like new technologies-- which should be created for the betterment of all.
